The average self-righteous American christian fundamentalist would follow Satan himself
if they thought it would get them a seat at the table where the adults sit

Evangelical Christianity has been getting thumped from every side - even from fellow "Christians"
for the last 25 years and the loss of numbers at positions of influence is significant

Our society is drifting in the opposite direction of Fundamentalism
Christianity will always be popular in America
but not in the form that Evangelicals desire

Trump is their very last gasp

:coffee:
And as pointed out, the irony in the whole thing is that Trump is the least "Evangelical" conk candidate/President in the last half century.

True dat. “Two Corinthians” Trump ain’t no model of piety. He could no more quote a verse of Scripture than Ilhan Omar.

Went to church last night and got my ashes. Didn’t see Trump there. The gospel was from Six Matthew.

SuperHornet wrote:While I'm not sure what this has to do with Trump, I CAN vouch that there are some definite threats against Christianity in our nation. Existential threats? Probably not at this time. Merely annoyances for now, but they ARE escalating to some degree. But there are DEFINITELY existential threats against Christianity worldwide. And it's not just radical Islam. There are many places where its simply government craziness aimed at Christians that has nothing to do with Islam or any other religion. That's particularly true in the Soviet Union. (Yes, I know the name has changed, but their current leader is behaving just like his Soviet predecessors....)

Christians are always playing the victim. Its their schtick

Not holding out for Ulan Bator? :(
Actually, yes-

The land of brown high cheek boned women who will kill you dead as Julius Caesar with an arrow from the back of a horse is still at the top of my bucket list

In fact, thats how I want to die... after I have insulted the Khan... I’ll be an old man in my twilight years- and she’ll ride past a full gallop... and wink at me... and then drive her shaft right through my heart

death doesn’t get more romantic than that. And if she does it against her will on orders from her chieftain makes it even sweeter

One of the most beautiful women I ever met was Mongolian...

She was a student at George Mason - I met her when she was working part time at the Front Page Grill in Arlington

She went home to her grandmother’s ranch every summer to compete in her sport - horseback archery

there certainly was a fantasy there but it wasn’t her existence....

I don't know beyond myself. I do know they had credibility with me in that I thought they were basically sincere. I defended them many times. And I thought that there was no way Trump could be President because I thought there was NO way White Evangelical Christians would support an atrocity like that.

I had faith in them. Misplaced faith. Well, I mean, my Wife is a White Evangelical Christian and she wasn't like that. As noted before she resigned from her position on the State Republican Central Committee and left the Republican Party because it nominated Trump. But she's a rare exception.

For the most part there is this weird phenomenon by which people who have been preaching about morality for decades have thrown their lot in with a person who is about as immoral and dishonest as immorality and dishonesty get.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
