Bittencourt's father-in-law, Alfredo Sestini, told the outlet that the model's husband, Jorge Sestini, then jumped into the ocean to attempt to rescue her. He was rescued himself hours later.

Why did it take hours to find him?

c) Why did it take hours to find the husband?
d) WTF? this story makes zero sense...I'm guessing the final version will be significantly different.

The hours it took to find the husband is the weird one - they knew when he jumped in, so how did they lose track of him? And not for minutes, but for hours. Weird.

If CluckU were here, he would back me up in saying it can be very hard to spot a man overboard once you lose sight for just a few seconds. Wave action obscures them, among other things.

Man overboard drill: the very first thing you do on a sailboat is throw a marker along with the ring- then you can concentrate on getting yourself turned around

I’m going to go with you guys saying something is missing from this story though

This is very true. And if this took place at night, then it’s difficulty is magnified by about 100x. Still doesn’t explain why she was “drowning”...other Than the fact she obviously has ZERO body fat and probably didn’t float very well...and when you’re low body fat it’s a bitch to keep your head above water.

But I gotta agree with JSO on this one...there’s no WAY I jump in the water (especially if it was at night) to save a dog. I throw a marker, turn around and try to snatch it out of the water on the return trip by.

Story has completely changed now. New version: There were NO dogs on the boat. Only two people on the boat were her and her husband. (Allegedly) 60+ mile/hour winds kicked up and blew her off the boat

and husband jumped in to save her because he couldn't (apparently) figure out how to turn the fucking boat around. Couldn't find her in the swells and was rescued several hours later by a 3rd party who wasn't even looking for him, but just happened to be in the area.

Beautiful thing about surviving? You get to write the narrative any way that works...
