Ok this is an old one I just came across but it illustrates the problem with the "Black History" distortions:

https://www.ebony.com/entertainment/queen-nefertiti/

It's Black people getting fired up because an image generated through imaging technology didn't look "Black."

Here's the problem: Queen Nefertiti reigned from 1353 to 1336 BC. The ancient Egyptians of that time were not what we call "Black."

Here's an article on DNA research into the matter:

https://bigthink.com/philip-perry/were- ... s-now-know

Take a look at this ancient bust of Nefertiti:

That's not a "Black" woman.

The ancient Egyptians were no more "Black" than this guy is:

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I always consider myself a Native American. I am of Swiss German descent, But I was born here, which makes me native.

Army tweets, "How has serving impacted you?"

Yeah, that was a mistake.
Just a sampling of the replies:
Never met my grandfather thanks to a long battle with melanoma from Agent Orange in Vietnam but thanks for asking
My dad has had PTSD since his tours in Afghanistan post-9/11. He has not been able to hold a job for more than a month since he retired, and his alcoholism gets worse every year. He can’t get care at the VA. He wakes up screaming every night.
My dad had the choice of going to Vietnam or prison. He went to Vietnam and regrets not choosing prison.

Had a pinched nerve in my neck earlier this year and it eventually started to effect my right arm till I had it put back into place. Might of just kinked your neck while you were sleeping.

Shouldn't you let the guy burn... he lit himself on fire right..?
he didn't spontaneously ignite or accidentally "catch fire"

He lit himself on fire...

Exact conversation we just had at the bus stop. If you set yourself on fire, the last thing you want is to be saved.

Also, there are some rumors he may have had some sort of flame retardant suit on. He was certainly walking along calmy while engulfed.

Also, also, no impact at all to my bus, so, winning.

I've been thinking along those lines for a little while. It's been getting better so I haven't seen anybody yet, but am going to go to the workplace injury center and see if someone (athletic trainer) can dig around with their fingers on my shoulder.

This is one of those mystery ailments.

https://quillette.com/2019/05/31/the-bi ... iscipline/

This is an example of why a lack of political diversity hurts the social sciences.

A conservative researcher digs deeper into the data that claimed to show black students are more likely to be suspended because of teacher bias, but all the researchers needed to do was look at (among other things) at previous behavior and disciplinary record of suspended students to make the almost all of the discrepancies in suspensions disappear.

How could you not think to look at something that obvious unless the researchers either didn't think of fairly obvious confounders or that they used their conclusion to draw facts.

This is so succinct and well-put.

I can pretty much promise you the majority of teachers that have experience in small-town southern districts (i.e. one of the few places in the country that are both fairly diverse and don't have largely segregated schools like in the big cities) will tell you that black kids are more likely to misbehave. And black teachers can be the most frank about it ("there too many black kids today that don't get they asses popped at home" one tells me).

And yet largely no one feels safe to object to the data used to justify the Obama school discipline directives because of the political and social climate (you'd think it'd be easier with "Trump's America" and all).

Why is the truth so upsetting to people?

First off, Google "LPGA" and see if you get the same results as me. First three items at the top are pictures of Paige Spiranic and Blair O'Neill in bikinis and an Amazon ad for "Women's Sexy Golf Player Costume".

Secondly, last year's Women's Open (edited down)...

Everyone here who pays any attention knows that I am a bit of a “population bomber”

I still believe that we will lose the ability to support the world population once we hit around 9 or 10 billion people

But that said, this flies a bit in the face of that if you consider the relative availability of commodities to be a determining factor:

What the hell was a 74 year old doing trying to hike Squaw/Piestwa Peak? I’ve hiked it several times. As I recall, its 1.2 miles/1200 ft elevation gain with rock scrambles at the top. A ball buster if you’re not in very good shape.
