Great graph. I always bought an older edition used on the internets for almost all of my textbooks, not sure why anyone would by a new edition in this day and age.

Was actually looking at textbooks with HI5.1 last night. $70 for a math book. It's frickin math. It doesn't change. Why do we need version 14? Is it really different than version 13 or version 1? $250 for chemistry but that will be good for 2 semesters. The best was microeconomics. The prof uses an open source book that you can download an e-version for free. if you want a hard copy it's $35.

I always bought used.

When there was a difference, it was the problems being numbered differently (ie. Question #2 in 1st Ed is Question #5 in 2nd Ed) which is an easy workaround. If they did add a question, which probably happened no more than five times in my entire college career, I just got it from a classmate. And even if I didn't get it, it would've been completely inconsequential to grades in the overall scheme of things.

It's a complete money grab.
