BTW, if you've known me over the years you know that I favor testing people to make sure they have some clue before allowing them to vote. Who that would hurt and who that would help depends on how tough the test is. If you fix it so that it just excludes maybe the bottom 10 or 20 percent it would probably favor Republicans. If you fix it so that it only INCLUDES the TOP 10 or 20 percent it would probably favor Democrats.

At this point I'm thinking the society would be better off if only to top 15% or so in terms of intelligence and knowledge could vote. That way there would be no WAY we'd end up with something like Trump being President.

I’m being tongue in cheek on Bernie

but he did essentially call auto manufacturers criminals in the debate. I believe in taking people’s word for things when they say them .... especially if the rules we apply to Trump also apply to Bernie

It would be easy to lump Bernie in with fair weather socialists like Warren if it wasn’t for the fact that he has a vast body of work compiled over decades of public life... he used to praise the Soviet system in the good ol days where even democrats thought he was a kook

We’ll never get to the gulags anytime soon though - because Bernie will never get the necessary political power....but that is definitely how governments of command economies stay in power

And I have no doubt that the inheritors of Bernie’s shining path would utilize every tool in the good ol toolbox if given the correct circumstances

Cute but false. In 2008 people with graduate degrees voted for Obama by 58% to 40% over McCain. In 2012 people with graduate degrees voted for Obama by 55% to 42% over Romney. In 2016 people with graduate degrees voted for CLINTON by 58% to 37% over Trump.

Educational attainment level is not a perfect measure. But it's the best proxy for IQ. If only the "cognitive elite"....the top 15% or so in IQ...could vote, Obama would do fine. Trump would not.

If only the people "above the average range" in intelligence could vote, the Republicans would have no shot. That doesn't mean NOBODY in that group would vote Republican. But if the "cognitive elite" were the only ones to vote the Republicans would be a non factor.
