How did you intend for that to read? Neither side is very tolerant of the other side's views, but the left has made it an artform.
That’s rich coming from you.

This definition is a good start:
“The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does , and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does ; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility while the second a feeling of blind arrogance"

Patriotism is loving your country but also recognizing that the rights in the Constitution doesn't mean everyone else has to think exactly like you do. Nationalism is a blind devotion to the symbols without understanding the meaning, and not tolerating those who look at the symbols differently
Very well put.

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

What is funny is that as usual, the righties on this board refuse to discuss the crime at hand, but deflect, defer and try to make it about the non-extremists on the board.

Neville Chamberlain showed us what happens when you tolerate nazis. You have to kill them eventually, like our fathers did.

LOL. I am far closer to the center than any of the Conks on this board. Problem is you, and the GOP have gone so far off the cliff to the right that what would have been the center 30 years ago is leftist to you.

I think that's true of both extremes. Neither Reagan or Kennedy/Johnson would be welcome in their own party today.

It is true but it is also a bit of a silly point.

Not dissimilar to the one about the klan being a product of the Democrats. True, but irrelevant.

I don't think it's totally irrelevant. I was using it to show that it isn't just the Conks that have "gone off the cliff." Both parties have moved toward the extremes.

If you look at the GOP in the 1980's and 90's truthfully, you will see a concerted effort to move the entire party to the right. Moderate Republicans were driven out. Then, when Newt became speaker in 1994, along with the rise of extremist right-wing media like Rush, Hannity and FoxNews, the GOP took a HARD lurch to the right. The Democratic Party still has many moderate to Conservative members. GOP? Just question dear leader and they want you out.
