U.S. created 501,000 fewer in past year than previously reported

he U.S. economy had 501,000 fewer jobs in March 2019 than previously reported, government revisions show, suggesting that hiring was not as strong in the past year as it seemed. Hiring was weaker in retail, restaurants and hotels. The annual revision is much larger than is typically the case. The preliminary revision in 2018, for example, was just 43,000. Every year the Bureau of Labor Statistics updates its figures based on unemployment data that nearly all employers are required to file with the states. The current revision is one of the largest ever.

So there are only 6.8M jobs available instead of the 7.3M jobs available as of June '19. Oh noes.
https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/job-offersThe number of job openings in the US were little-changed at 7.348 million in June 2019, compared to a revised 7.384 million in the previous month and market expectations of 7.317 million. Job openings declined in leisure and hospitality (-93,000), but increased in real estate and rental and leasing (+38,000) as well as state and local government education (+20,000). Meanwhile, hiring fell by 58,000 jobs to 5.702 million. Job Offers in the United States averaged 4428.65 Thousand from 2000 until 2019, reaching an all time high of 7626 Thousand in November of 2018 and a record low of 2264 Thousand in July of 2009.

That is not what the report was referring to, but thanks for playing.

Healthcare doesn't have to be an either/or.
Medicare is administered by private health insurance.
I work at a midsized health insurance company and most of our business is administering Medicare plans. We pay out claims and are reimbursed by the guvmint. Seems like a pretty good compromise between public and private.

The big thing here is that it is just more confirmation that there hasn't been any economic renaissance associated with Trump taking office. It was already the case that job creation under Trump was not higher. Either yesterday or the day before I saw a piece showing that if you take the first 30 months under Trump and the last 30 months under Obama more jobs were created during the last 30 months under Obama. Then they did a thing to address the claim that Trump getting elected changed things and pointed out that if you compared the last 33 months under Obama to the 33 months since 2016 election day more jobs were created during the last 33 months of Obama. So this makes it MORE less.
It's just more information supporting the conclusion that the idea that Trump has improved the economy is nonsense.
