It's pretty universally acknowledged that Jews in the ethnic sense have a higher average IQ than the general population. The controversy is over the reason for that.

The 84% thing comes from the idea that the average IQ of Jews is about 1 standard deviation higher than that of the general population. I think you'll see that mentioned in some of those articles. I noticed that it looks like the articles place it at somewhere in the 1/2 to 1 standard deviation range. If it's 1/2 a standard deviation it'd be about 69 percent.

It's kind of a unique situation, I think, in which there is a very strong association between being a member of a certain religion and being genetically inter-related. It's not like when you look at the exit poll grouping "Protestant" and there is a lot more variation in ethnicity.

All I can tell you is that I am confident that if you were to administer IQ tests to everyone who identifies as a "Jew" in the United States you would end up with a distribution of IQ scores that has a mean substantially higher than that of the general population. And I know that, culturally, the Ashkenazi Jews have historically discouraged breeding outside of their group.

It's similar to trying to distinguish "Black" and "White." Yes, the lines are blurred. But whenever people are categorized in any reasonable way we see differences between "Black" and "White." or "Asian" and "White." There are no perfect separations.

But the population differences exist.

There is going to be tailgating as good as it gets in FCS this Saturday when Southern travels to McNeese. I don't know if I'm going to try to experience it though. I'm getting old and it IS going to be August in South Louisiana with a "Sunny" forecast. I will likely be in Lake Charles but I'll watch the game on TV. I'll go to one of my brothers' house to do it. But I might drive over to the stadium area a couple of hours before the game just to take a peek because the pre game atmosphere should be epic.

BTW me not going to the game in person won't cost the school. It's going to be standing room only. In fact I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like on television. It's going to be be a good look for FCS.

I’m still thinking about those Cajun bastards that tailgated with us for the Nicholls State game last December. Rolled up in a stretch limo, unloaded a table full of booze, brought etoufee, boudin sausage, Gumbo, and were nothing but great peeps to party and watch some FCS playoffs with. Got invited to come down to the bayou and fish and golf.

It was an awesome cultural exchange. Cheney and Thibedeaux need to be sister cities.
