Group of 44 hikers rescued from a trail at Lost Dutchman State Park
A group of 44 hikers from Kansas were rescued Thursday evening on the Flat Iron Trail in Lost Dutchman State Park.
Lost Dutchman State Park is a 320-acre park located in Pinal County near the Superstition Mountains.
Pinal County Sheriff's Office received a call from a hiker around 7:30 p.m. requesting help, according to Danny Bravo, a Department spokesman.
When Search and Rescue personnel arrived, the team found the hikers stuck on the trail. Forty of the hikers had to be assisted; two were extracted by an Arizona Department of Public Safety Ranger helicopter and two were led out by a utility task vehicle, said Bravo in an email.
One of the hikers was transported to the hospital, according to Bravo.
The group of hikers started the hike around 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, said Bravo in the email.
According to Superstition Fire and Medical, some of the hikers were overcome with heat.
What's the matter with Kansas?

These morons started one of the tougher hikes in the area, at 2:30 pm when it was 110+ out. They were warned not to do it, but did it anyways

They probably took inspiration from their own US Senator:

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran is recovering in the hospital after he fell on Camelback Mountain in Phoenix on Thursday morning.
The senator from Kansas suffered an ankle injury while hiking.
Phoenix fire crews used a big wheel to remove Moran from the mountain.
Video from the news helicopter showed the 65-year-old being treated by about a dozen firefighters on the scene.

No, those hikers were Democrats. They didn’t know where they were going; didn’t know where they came from; and were full of hot air!

"Stuck on the trail." What does that mean? And what kind of harsh wilderness does Kansas have?

Both incidents happened in the Phoenix area - so out of towners from Kansas had no respect for the desert/mountains.
The hikers were overcome with heat, lack of water. Needed fluids, and some physical help to get off the mountain.

I am guessing they did not find the treasure.

They got stuck on a 320 acre park? That's just a little bigger than the ODU campus. And ODU's campus is small.

No - the park is the trailhead to the Superstition Wilderness Area

They were in the Wilderness Area when rescued.
