That's not necessarily true, Jon. Oh, sure, in terms of groups that may be true. But I defy you to substantiate the claim that individual females can't compete with individual males. For example, there's no way on God's green Earth that someone like David Spade is going to take down the likes of Crush or Chyna. I've seen MANY military women who could outperform men athletically and militarily.dbackjon wrote:So you think gays are second rate?SuperHornet wrote:I see no reason why the world's best military should kowtow to second-rates.
Or are you referring to women? Because we know athletically, women ARE second rate to men.
My point, however, was that as the premier military force in the world, we should not be taking how-tos from forces that can't compete with us. That has absoulutely NOTHING to do with gender or preference. Perhaps we could make the decision on our own without referring to those second-rates out there. But to do it merely because "everybody's doing it" is insanely juvenile.
Personally, as a former Sailor, even as one who supports more opportunities for women in the military, I'd hate to see THAT door opened. There are too many fears among straight military people. While the vast majority of gay people would likely be smart enough to not start anything, eventually SOMEBODY's going to make a mistake, and the controversy's going to be blow WAY out of proportion. We could also see more incidents like we saw in Japan about 10 years ago, where straight Sailors bashed a suspected gay shipmate's head into a public urinal. While I can't condone THAT either, I firmly believe that a full ban is the best way to prevent these unfortunate incidents.
I realize that that's a rather poor argument. There are others that can formulate a better one. But that's how I see it.
