Plus the IG has said that the whistle blower is a SME with first hand information that had been corroborated during the review of the complaint.

So whats your problem- that someone has stood up and said something was wrong or that Trump admitted to it?

If y’all are like Graham or Jordan - then it’s clear you want to attack the source.

There are a lot of people in this thread acting like they have first hand knowledge of Biden and Trump when in reality they only have political spin.

No one has to view it my way, but by the same token, trying to label someone as beyond reproach just because they happen to have been appointed by Trump, makes no sense either.
Makes as much sense as saying they’re traitors and back stabbers.

It’s all situational ethics.

We've now got politicians suggesting that overt strong arming from the President is totally fine...

Defenders of Trump on this matter would seem to be conceding that future President _________ X
could actively pressure foreign leaders to investigate Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka Trump
for corrupt business dealings in their respective countries
and marshaling the leverage of U.S. foreign policy to secure answers

The inquiry could extend to anything tangentially to the official doings and responsibilities of their father
which would plausibly encompass nearly all of the Trump Organization’s actions around the world

Future president ____________X could run the whole operation through a personal attorney
chosen for his or her personal and political loyalty
bypassing the procedures and checks against corruption embedded within the federal process
And _________X could do this to the Trump kids even if one of them were running against ________X
and it would not even matter if __________ X motives were obviously venal.

Trump supporters:
Do you think that it would be an abuse of power for President _________X
to investigate Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka in this fashion?

are you okay with the precedent that Trump is trying to set?

Fascinating
I await even a single shred of evidence to support that claim
or an example of vastly exaggerated hyperbole that would work as a marginal claim

Like Hilary's 30K emails that have been investigated for 2.5 years and zilch
emails can never be erased - but don't let that stop you from making claims

Sounds like the State Department IG want is on the action.
The State Department’s inspector general is expected to give an "urgent" briefing to staffers from several House and Senate committees on Wednesday afternoon about documents obtained from the department’s Office of the Legal Adviser related to the State Department and Ukraine, sources familiar with the planned briefing told ABC News.

Details of the briefing, requested by Steve Linick, the inspector general at State, remain unknown. Linick is expected to meet with congressional staff in a secure location on Capitol Hill.

The unusual nature and timing of the briefing – during a congressional recess – suggests it may be connected to a recent intelligence community whistleblower allegation which describes, in part, the State Department’s role in coordinating interactions between Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal attorney, and Ukrainian officials.

The inspector general is the department's internal investigator and watchdog, and the office generally operates independently of the department's political leadership.

That’s all true -

But on the flip side of that, there have been Federal agencies that have been unable to recover emails due to a hodge podge of overlapping, decentralized storage systems. Seriously Clitz - if you could see the absolute jumble of systems we rely on at DoS... mostly products of the Federal procurement system- from vendors that dont even exist anymore (because they were formed just to bid the contract). Add to this that our IT people are like slip and fall attorneys.... if they were competent they’d be working for IBM instead of the government

During the whole email thing we went through a lot of reminders about Fed records retention... instructions to not delete emails from our desktops ... because they might get “lost” - in other words, DoS IT people might not be able to find them (not that they don’t exist or were permanently deleted)

FOIA requests are a nightmare

My friend's MIL has made lots of money bidding on government contracts, getting her bid to the top of the pile due to being a woman and one-fourth Native American, and then hiring someone else to do all the work and pocketing what's left after paying them. On one particular project that involved software development she ended up paying grad students $12 an hour. I'm sure it was a technical marvel whatever they were building.

But at least we're fighting sexism and racism in the process of giving out contracts, right?
