The American Economy.....on the upswing since 2008.

Actually the current expansion started in 2009 (which was Obama's first year in office). But the basic point is valid. There hasn't been a change in the basic trend since Trump got elected or since Trump took office. The idea that Trump improved what the economy was doing is nonsense.

And we're on the cusp of starting to see things decline. Not that such would necessarily be Trump's fault. But it'll be interesting to see if he claims "credit" for it. He's been claiming credit for positive trends that were in place well before he took office. We'll see if he takes credit for negative trends that start WHILE he is in office should they become established.

Global Manufacturing Weak

Elsewhere, reports this week have shown China's factory sector contracted for a fifth month in September. The euro area's manufacturing slumped as German factories experienced their worst month since the depths of the financial crisis.

The latest disappointing data add to a growing pile of evidence of further dimming in the global economic outlook.
