How Many Republicans will Back the Pelosi Resolution?
Impeachment process finally being put to a House vote. How many Republicans will abandon their President?

Hard to say. There are a lot of very quiet GOP House members right now...
I imagine there are a few meetings between them and Cocaine Mitch right now
TBH, in an alternate universe where I am a complete cunt and decide to be a Congresscritter I might vote yea

I’m guessing 10-19 yes votes of House members from less than dead-red districts.

I chose 10-19. I think 10 is a more reasonable expectation.

I'd vote yes, and given what we know already I'd be leaning to vote for impeachment. But I'd also be voting for that knowing that removal from office is not only unlikely, but, in an election year, probably not even the right thing to do. I'd vote for it as an expression of an extreme censure and let the voters decide on whether he should be in office or not.

Cooler heads have indeed called for a censure motion, which is unusual enough, and sufficient to shame most politicians.GannonFan wrote:I'd vote yes, and given what we know already I'd be leaning to vote for impeachment. Trump is not most politicians and not sure it would do anything in his case.

Impeachment without removal isn't going to do very much in his case either. And in an election year it just becomes part of the campaign, which will hurt him and also help him. Strange times indeed.Winterborn wrote:Ivytalk wrote:

I don't think there are many people out there that haven't made up their mind already and anything "new" isn't likely to change their viewpoint.GannonFan wrote:Impeachment without removal isn't going to do very much in his case either. Re: How Many Republicans will Back the Pelosi Resolution?
I meant more so by the idea of which base gets more motivated by the impeachment but not removal from office. I don't see anyway, given what we know right now, that the Senate removes him, so does that motivate more of those opposed to Trump or more of those who support him. And frankly, what of those who don't fit in either camp.Winterborn wrote:I don't think there are many people out there that haven't made up their mind already and anything "new" isn't likely to change their viewpoint.GannonFan wrote:

I'll guess 3. I don't think it will be many. The only one I think will vote yes will be Will Hurd. Then a couple of others I hadn't considered.

Re: How Many Republicans will Back the Pelosi Resolution?
If every GOP Congressman who has announced his retirement voted yes, you’d break 10. That’s what I think will happen: that and the “purple district” factor that HI5 mentioned. If you’re correct, more power to you.Skjellyfetti wrote:I'll guess 3. I don't think it will be many. The only one I think will vote yes will be Will Hurd. Then a couple of others I hadn't considered.

I said it was a guess... No, I am not confident I will guess the correct number and would not bet on 3 being it.
What was your number? Or do you get to be right now on any number but 3?
Also, when did we have an avatar bet before?
