Re: 2019 MLB World Series
I can honestly say I'm thrilled for Howie Kendrick...
He's been a favorite of mine since the early days with the Angels
a true "Professional Hitter" who's had to work his way into lineups by hitting his way in there

So you bailed on them when they weren't playing well?89Hen wrote:ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:You are welcome 89I wasn't quite as emphatic, but....

Nobody cares about the Wiz, but...CAA Flagship wrote:But the Wizards, as a franchise, are way more pathetic than the Redskins.
Since 2004:
Wizards have been to the playoffs 8 times, winning 4 rounds
Redskins have been to the playoffs 4 times and are 1-4.
Here's a funny one. The Redskins beat the Lions in the 1991 NFC Championship Game. Since that game, every team in the NFC has made at least an appearance in the NFC Championship Game.... except the Redskins and Lions.

Re: 2019 MLB World Series
I would agree, always been a solid player, not a superstar, but teams need these type of winning players. Glad to see he is having his moment.Chizzang wrote:I can honestly say I'm thrilled for Howie Kendrick...

All week nobody wore Nat gear.
Today - a bunch of people of wearing hats and shirts. And several of them are Charlotte natives who appear to be bandwagonners. They usually show up to work the day after a championship wearing that teams shirts.

Do you think Bryce is wearing Nats gear?

Congratulations Nats! Not the outcome I wanted, but very well deserved.
Bizarre series with the visitors winning all 7 games. I think the baseball gods are pissed about the juiced ball, and took it out on the ticket holders.

Not only that none of the games ended real close.

That was a great swing by Kendrick. Nice pitcher's pitch at the knees and on the outside corner. As homers go, it was a cheapie, but as my old baseball coach use to say, "a cheap run counts as much as a run."Chizzang wrote:I can honestly say I'm thrilled for Howie Kendrick...

Cheapies a plenty in Houston. What a joke of a ballpark.JoltinJoe wrote:That was a great swing by Kendrick. Nice pitcher's pitch at the knees and on the outside corner. Good video. Glad they cut the awkward "Remember where you are" quotes from the Nats radio guy at the very end.

It's one of his regular tag lines. Never been a fan of that.CAA Flagship wrote:Good video. Glad they cut the awkward "Remember where you are" quotes from the Nats radio guy at the very end.

Charlie Slowes is one of the best in the business. I'm a bit biased, since he is an old college friend, although I haven't seen him in years. His call is being largely praised and I think deservedly so. It is an excellent call.89Hen wrote:It's one of his regular tag lines. Never been a fan of that.CAA Flagship wrote:Good video. Re: 2019 MLB World Series
He did botch it. His tag line is "Remember where you are, so you'll remember where you were." That's not what he called. Problem is, he's used it a bunch... Scherzer's no-no, his 20 K game, I think Stras debut, Werth walk-off, etc... How the hell am I supposed to remember all those?JoltinJoe wrote:Charlie Slowes is one of the best in the business. I see what you did there.
I know his tag line. I think it's kinda cool that he was so excited he blew his own tag line. As big as some other games were -- now this call will stand out.

Just like CNN overuses, "Breaking News". Something can't be "Breaking News" at 5PM if it's been known and discussed since the morning or night before.

Re: 2019 MLB World Series
A signature line is never overused. It stamps the moment. When the Yankees win the World Series next year, I already know what John Sterling will say: "Ball game over. Wwwwoooorld Seeeeeries over! Yankees Win! Thhhhhhhe Yankees Win!!! For the 28th time, the New York Yankees have scaled every mountain, overcome every obstacle, and are the kings of baseball!"Ibanez wrote:It's overused.89Hen wrote: He did botch it. Can't wait to hear it. That is what a signature line is all about.
