You’re forgetting one key fact. Most of the guys flying the Apaches are going to be on the side of the Bubbas with their ARs, not the leftists..
That is not a fact. It is your opinion. If it's a fact, back it up.

And in what fantasy scenario would they be taking up arms against fellow countrymen over?

One where Beto O’Rourke was still in the race...and somehow won.

Ok, I can’t prove that most would be backing the Bubbas versus the leftists. But if want to believe otherwise, by all means..

Of course there would be desertions.

WTF were those 2 families doing in that part of Mexico?
And I can't believe that the Cartel leadership would be thinking- hey, lets murder 2 car loads of Americans, so the American govt will put pressure on the Mexican govt to flood that area will military & Federales, which will be bad for business. It doesn't make sense.

Well, well, well.... whaddaya know?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... mate-alarm

I've been saying this for a long time - this is almost more common sense than science

So what form will the call for this take amongst our progressive busybody scold friends?

In 10-20 years we won't just be vilifying people for their lifestyles or their privilege... we'll be vilifying them for having kids. And there will be calls for government to adopt laws limiting birth rates. Right now, they are just calling for education, empowerment for women, etc etc etc blah blah but we all know where this leads.

As with climate change, we do not know what the results will be but we will certainly experience the full effects of those results. I personally think our population will be self-limiting... at some point either we will either throw people in camps for incorrect thoughts and activities, and/or we will fight it out.

Or, China will decide that the problem is too many non-Chinese people and then we'll fight it out

China itself has been down this silk road before with its One-Child Policy, and guess what? It didn’t work. They ended up with a slightly reduced population growth rate (which has been achieved in the West without coercion) ; more men and fewer women to couple up with; and more old people to support. Now the PRC is back to a two-child policy. I guess they looked at Japan’s demographics and didn’t like what they saw.

Ironically, proponents of the population control argument like to hold China forth as the model for success.

Ultimately this will likely be just like climate policy... no country is going to intentionally weaken itself in the face of external adversaries. Except maybe the US. We seem to want to self destruct

Living there - they are part of groups of polygamous Mormons who fled to Mexico so they could continue polygamy. Mitt Romney is from one of these groups.

Most of the kids were born in Mexico (I think some of the Moms as well). They have lived there for almost 100 years.

Two theories:

1) Mistake - they were driving big SUV's, and one cartel thought it was the other.
2) The leader of the sect has had run ins with the cartels in the past, but that was 10 years ago - residual?

If you left the US almost 100 years ago to live in a way that wasn't legal in the US, are your descendents still US citizens?

If you read the stories that have come out later today, this wasn't an accident. The first mom killed was an activist in in conflict with the cartel over water rights. In addition, the Mexican government had protected the sect with 90 federales up until a short time ago, and recently rolled back their protection.

This wasn't a mistake. It was a message. Pretty standard operating procedures for a Mexican cartel. They're also saying that Sinoloa has splintered into faction cartels, so the noobies may be flexing.

10-20 years? I seem to recall a thread a month or two ago here with some of the tolerant left vilifying people for having multiple kids.

They have maintained American citizenship as well, and there is enough cross-border traffic/sister wives that there is a continual infusion of American citizens into the community. Some come back to the US for child birth, some go to Mexico.

A better source might be CID - how many generations can ex-pats maintain US Citizenship living abroad?

If you are a USC living abroad and want to transmit your citizenship to your foreign born child there are several if-then conditions but the shirt version is if the mother is a USC and birth is out of wedlock then mom has to have spent 1 year of her life in the US. An out of wedlock USC father has to have spent 5 years in the US, 3 of which have to have been after age 14-15 (I’d have to look the age up). Two USC parents with a kid in wedlock can transmit more easily but I don’t remember the conditions.

In short, you have to have spent some time in the US to transmit.

Thanks - so the parents could have the kids in Mexico (getting them Mexican Citizenship), send them to live a few years with an aunt while going to school, and quality for American Citizenship, and then move the kids back to Mexico to start the cycle over?

In some cases, yes. The boys would need to spend 3 of their 5 years in the US after age 14 or 15.

Our citizenship and naturalization laws make a pretty feeble attempt at making sure that foreign born children get their “American-ness” from their parents

There’s been a civil war going on in Mexico since the 1990s

It is as dangerous and brutal as Libya in some places and Hillary/Samantha Power had nothing to do with it

China is still suffering the consequences of that policy.

Population is already a problem and will continue to get worse. In the US, the groups doing the most "breeding" appear to be evangelicals and immigrants. How will liberals go after breeding without offending immigrants?

Breeding and overpopulation is a much bigger problem in third world countries. How can that problem be solved with humanity and respect for sovereignty?
