The Trump Whistleblower Extravaganza Thread

I was about to ask the same thing

We don’t need to be exonerating the Bidens just to excoriate Trump

They are not mutually exclusive. Hunter Biden has obviously profited from his father’s government positions. In fact Hunter Biden is just Donald Trump Jr. with a D beside his name.

I don’t doubt he didn’t profit off his fathers name and position.

But that’s not the theory. That’s the distraction.

The United States and other Western nations had for months called for the ousting of Mr. Shokin, who was widely criticized for turning a blind eye to corrupt practices and for defending the interests of a venal and entrenched elite. He was one of several political figures in Kiev whom reformers and Western diplomats saw as a worrying indicator of a return to past corrupt practices, two years after a revolution that was supposed to put a stop to self-dealing by those in power.

You mean the alleged whistle blower.

Just because he or she raised concerns a doesn’t make them a bad person. Let’s hold off on pre-judging people we don’t know who we’re in situations we weren’t part of.

You’re only sore because it’s against a Republican. If the tables were turned you’d be all about protecting them.

Here's a good discussion of the Biden thing and why what Trump and his acolytes have been saying is a bunch of crap:

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archi ... on/598705/

My own take has been similar: Biden had no power to provide or withhold aid. He was simply relaying the position of the US government at the time. Also: His son was in jeopardy at the time.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

This was unexpected - I thought they were going to get a directive from Trump out of at least one of these clowns

Pelosi had better move very fast on this - the longer it drags out there more time the public will have to desensitize to the whole Ukraine thing and then it will look like they wasted an entire legislative session over what many people will be thinking is a "meh" event

Planted? Jesus Christ, is that what Ingrahm and Hannity are telling you? You mean the alleged whistle-blower. For a Republican, you sure as hell don't care about "innocent until proven guilty".

I think his high crime would be abuse of power, maybe even obstruction of justice...which from the memo, Mulvaney's admission, the testimony that's come out and will likely come out next week points to someone that was asking a foreign country for a political favor and not a diplomatic one.

But, like Jerry Nadler said the other day, keep an open mind and allow yourself to see evidence that would prove him innocent. :coffee:

Where do you see that? I saw where his attorney sent Trump a cease and desist letter, and rightfully so. Trump is a bully.

I agree. They risk losing momentum. We're about to have election fatigue, let's get past this. Besides, the Dems don't want to distract too much from the primaries.

I bet the the HoR will vote before Christmas and we'll have a Senate Trial starting with the new session in 2020.

You misunderstand my support. As long as Trump keeps giving our elected officials exactly what they have been dishing for years, I am great with that.

As CID likes to say about pearl clutching, I love how those "above the fray" clutch their pearls when Trump does something they all have been allowing for years.

Plus, Trump seems to be doing quite well with America.

I think Trump is a deplorable person. Having said that, the Democrats have certainly been clutch their pearls. I think impeachment is going to do more than good for their party.

To give you some idea, my son asked me during the primaries if I wanted Trump to be the guy. I told him no and felt that Kasich presented himself the best. Didn't say anything about policy, but wanted to point out what looking Presidential should look like...compared to Trump.

I voted for Gary Johnson in the hopes the 3rd party could get past the 5% hurdle for funding in the hopes we could actually get a viable third candidate someday.

But as I've said, I enjoy the bullshit he gives Congress and the press every single day. I love how he simply pulls DARVO and flips the script and doesn't bat an eye when dealing with them both.
