As noted in my previous post a problem with that post is that there's no description of what it is. Describe what it is, exactly, and we can discuss it. In other words: I can tell you why it does not rebut the contention that we'd be about in the same place as we are now in the stock market if the stock market had simply continued to progress as it had before Trump got elected.CAA Flagship wrote:

If you can’t see the obvious change in slope of the graph literally beginning the day Trump was elected then I can’t help you.JohnStOnge wrote:As noted in my previous post a problem with that post is that there's no description of what it is. The blue line is from Obama's inauguration to the 2016 Election (a.k.a. The Trump Effect). The red line is the 2016 Election to today.JohnStOnge wrote:As noted in my previous post a problem with that post is that there's no description of what it is. Not sure what the hell you are talking about with the curvilinear relationahips. The bottom line is that the market was above the blue line for much of Obama's terms. That means the curve is in the wrong direction. That can be explained away if there was a blip in trading that lasted only a few months at the end, but the downward curve was due to a sluggish economy and a flat market the last two years. Remember, Obama's economy was propped up with a ton of stimulus. There were few Fed bullets left by the time Trump took office. Had the market stayed flat since the 2016 election in the face of rising interest rates and quantitative tightening, that would have been considered good. Instead, the market rose at a greater rate than the "stimulus years" because of economic policies by politicians.

I might start blocking JSO. I'm no fan of Trump by any means but I am able to give the man a fair shake and credit when it's due (like USMCA...get it done CONGRESS!!!!).

Agreed, there are plenty of reasons to be abhorred of Trump, but to rail time and time again that Trump hasn't had a positive impact on the economy over and above that of his predecessor, in spite of clear mathematical evidence supporting that, is starting to be the new definition of insanity. JSO was a levelheaded poster years ago, but the years and the Trump presidency have not been good to him, unfortunately.Ibanez wrote:I might start blocking JSO. I saw the musical again for the third time this past week (took the in-laws as an early Christmas gift - their first time seeing it) - still is probably my favorite song in the musical and certainly one of the best lines in that song.Ibanez wrote:Truth. I have YET to see it. The closest i've been is standing outside the Rodgers theater. We're joining the theater in Charlotte so that when Hamilton returns next season, we get early access.GannonFan wrote:I saw the musical again for the third time this past week (took the in-laws as an early Christmas gift - their first time seeing it) - still is probably my favorite song in the musical and certainly one of the best lines in that song.Ibanez wrote: Truth. I've been twice to New York - once when we had front row center seats for the original cast, and then once we were four rows from the back of the house when we took the kids. Seats that far back in the Rodgers Theater aren't very good at all, IMO. Save your money on that. We just saw it in Philly with the in-laws and we were again about four rows from the back and in that theater (Forrest Theater) the seats were still fantastic and it was great. I play the lottery in New York and often any city within a few hours of Philly and I haven't won again since we won that first time (although the first time was well before the current app they use - it was a website where they had the lottery). Probably play at least 10 times a week, depending on our schedule that week, and have never won again.

Re: The Official "Making America Great Again" Thread
https://www.conservativereview.com/news ... iod-obama/During the first 33 full months of the Trump administration – from February 2017 through October 2019 – the federal government has spent roughly $11.762 trillion, according to tabulations of monthly statements from the Treasury Department. If you flash back to the equivalent 33-month period during the beginning of Obama’s first term – from February 2009 through October 2011 – spending was approximately $10.3 trillion. That was the period of all the bank bailouts and the stimulus. That was the period where we saw the expansion of welfare and unemployment benefits. Yet, today, outlays are 13.2 percent higher than the infamous spending binge.
Thanks OBAMA!

Wait. I thought Obama's economy "was propped up with a ton of stimulus."

The article doesn't say that (now that you made me read it). It says almost all of the spending increase is due to Medicare and Social Security payments (i.e. entitlements) for an aging population. Even says revenues are way up versus the same period of time under Obama so we haven't seen the same kind of increases to the debt. The article is more of a whine about how we're lurching to a socialist utopia regardless of party control. I'm actually mad you made me read it.Skjellyfetti wrote:Wait. Why spend hours of your time digging up stuff on the Internet in a vain effort to convince maybe 20 guys on a political message board of the rightness of your cause? That’s what I just don’t get. He’d do better to get out on the hustings of Loozianna and preach it to the coon-ass masses.
