Will we see another Southeastern Louisiana shootout this week? It could happen. Chason Virgil threw for nearly 500 yards against Villanova last week, SELU's defense didn't accomplish much in the same game, the Montana passing game has certainly been potent this year, and UM's pass defense has been very inconsistent. Add in the incredibly demoralizing loss the Griz suffered in Bozeman a couple weeks ago, and we've got the recipe for a close game… if not for two big factors. One is that the Griz have not played a single game this season that's been decided by less than 14 points, and 7 of their games (including all 3 losses ) have been blowouts. The other is that Southland Conference teams are 0-12 in Missoula in the playoffs (0-13 if you count the vacated UCA game from 2011), and the average margin in those games is a whopping 31.9 ppg. Because of those factors, the Griz should stay alive for another week.
I think Southeastern Louisiana is very athletic. But the history of Southland teams playing at Montana during winter makes it very tough to think this is going to be close.
I can remember McNeese losing at Montana in the second round by 2 points on a last minute field goal in 1994. But after that all I can remember is Montana drilling Southland teams by scores like 70-14 when the games have been at Missoula.

The only other close one was the 28-19 win over NW State in the 2001 first round. The Demons played UM in the first round 3 out of 4 years, and the score got progressively worse for them each time.
Dang I looked at the forecast and that's incredible. Temperature will be in the 60s. I can't ever remember it being like that when a Southland team went up there in the playoffs. I guess climate change is real.

Huh? The high is supposed to be 40. I mean, that's above average for this time of year, but still well below 60.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
