Good to have him back in FCS. Look for Cal-Poly in a few years, once Beau gets his players on the field.

If he finds a quarterback - it'll be faster than that...Gil Dobie wrote:Good to have him back in FCS. Look for Cal-Poly in a few years, once Beau gets his players on the field.
Here's me hoping it takes "a few years"

Re: Beau Baldwin to Cal-Poly?
Never had a QB at Cal with more than a season of starting experience. Bare cupboard after Goff plus injuries. It took him a year to get Matt Nicholls rolling too. When he first got there EWU was markedly better at all the skill positions.
Wilcox probably recruited D heavy and it would take another year for the right offensive personnel.
He’s a great dude and one of the greasiest golfers you’ll ever see.

all he needs as a couple of receivers that can get 50-50 balls and a QB willing to sling itGil Dobie wrote:Good to have him back in FCS. Look for Cal-Poly in a few years, once Beau gets his players on the field.

Great hire for CP. I think it will take some time for Baldwin to turnover the roster considering CP was built for the TO. Another thing to consider is that he'll have stiffer academic requirements at CP compared to the 2.0 and a pulse requirements at EWU. Good move by CP nonetheless.

Can he get the type of athletes he needs at an engineering school? I thought that was why they ran the TO in the first place....

Re: Beau Baldwin to Cal-Poly?
Well they have had athletes in the past, so I think the answer is yes. The question is can he get enough of them quick enough. I think he has them rolling towards the end of year 2. Then ready to rock and roll in year 3. I think the biggest struggle will bringing in the bigger bodies in the trenches. CP always seem to have lean OL that were all about mobility and cut blocking. I'm thinking that will have to change for Baldwins offense, and that will take the longest to get implemented.AZGrizFan wrote:Can he get the type of athletes he needs at an engineering school? We might be easier to get into but no one attacks a ropes course class or gender studies of the upper Columbia plateau like an eag! However, it was Eastern Washington’s performance in the classroom that helped the Eagles secure the Presidents’ Cup victory. Eastern Washington led all institutions in grade point average with a school GPA of 3.42. Every Eagle squad recorded a 3.0 or higher – the only Big Sky school to do so. Eastern Washington also had six teams register a GPA of 3.5 or higher, while women’s cross country recorded the highest mark of 3.71. In addition, the Eagles had the second-best Academic Progress Rate in the conference, posting a 985 for the 2016-17 academic year.

Does this spell the end of the TO at Cow Poly?
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I would assume so.SuperHornet wrote:Does this spell the end of the TO at Cow Poly?
The Big Sky needs an option team, so it's time for Montana State to finally abandon any pretext of passing and start running the TO.
