What is Fargo the "Gate City" to?

Gate City is the Banks name since 1923. Have no information on why they chose the name.

There is usually a history behind a name like that. St. Louis is the Gateway to the West. My home town was a gate city because it was located at the first rapids on the Mississippi.

Historically part of Sioux (Dakota) territory, the area that is present-day Fargo was an early stopping point for steamboats traversing the Red River during the 1870s and 1880s. The city was originally named "Centralia," but was later renamed "Fargo" after Northern Pacific Railway director and Wells Fargo Express Company founder William Fargo (1818–1881).

The area started to flourish after the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad and the city became known as the "Gateway to the West."

God damn weather. :wall: :ohno: Some quotes the JMU board:
My optimism is not paying off. DFW delaying and cancelling inbound flights left and right. DAL looks open still. My parents flight out of PIT at 5:15 has been cancelled.
We had a 230pm flight out of BWI cancelled. Wasn't meant to be....
Two parties in my group out of Chicago and DCA have been cancelled. We're waiting for our axe to fall here in Seattle.
Well the wife and I are in ATL since 10:30 AM today. Our original flight at 1:25 PM got cancelled as we were driving to Hartsfield so we rebooked on the 7:35 PM flight. All flights up to ours have either been cancelled or delayed due to terrible weather at Dallas Love Field. As of now the flight is on time but I am holding my breath. Younger daughter is flying in from BWI at 7:30 and so far her flight is OK although again all previous ones have been cancelled. Her fiance is coming in from LAX and his is delayed. What a CF. This is similar to the difficulties we had getting in and out for the 2016 game, most out due to an ice storm that was hitting the east.
Me:
AA nonstop PHL to DFW:
-0500 AM departure diverted to Little Rock.
-0711 AM departure arrived on time.
-0841 AM departure arrive on time/early.
-1102 AM departure canceled.
-3:34 PM departure delayed over 2 1/2 hrs (maintenance issues with 2 planes, but about to take off).
-4:45 PM departure delayed bout 1/2 hr, inflight.
-8:58 PM departure showing on time.

They won't let NDSU fans take their RVs on airplanes. That green line down I-29 looks like miles and miles of this:

Both DFW and Love Field have ground stops due to severe weather passing through. The TV weather guy says the stops should last another hour as the storms pass through.

Could be a couple thousand empty seats tomorrow.
-All the flight cancellations into DFW and DAl.
-+ apparently were still hundreds of seats available on the NCAA ticket site, Stub Hub, etc. some at face value before all the fees. Before the semis (or maybe was right after) someone on the JMU board mentioned that the cheapest on the NCAA site were $105, but $140 after all the BS fees).

About a week after the semis JMU found out (and I assume NDSU also) that got another block of tickets. Maybe have been in the hundreds, don’t know. While the entire block was used, I know some JMU fans on the wait list declined as by then airfare had shot way up or wasn’t enough time to plan.

In 2017 NDSU/JMU the stadium seated only about a construction shortened 18k+. Was 19.1k announced attendance, and I bet hardly any empty seats. The then $75 I think face value tickets as I recall were running $200-$350 up until a couple days before the game. Now the stadium is apparently back to its 20.5k. So 2k+ more tickets to alleviate some price pressure. This past week I’ve heard (haven’t looked myself) that there were tickets tickets (endzone perhaps) were running around the $85 face value before fees. A lot of tickets in more prime location were still priced way higher/in the hundreds. Sounds like a lot of sellers (esp tixket brokers) might end up eating some tickets because they priced them too high, assuming would be like 2017.

I’m thinking a lot of fans that didn’t get through their school’s allotments probably assumed they couldn’t get tickets at a more reasonable price, and by the time they found out they could, was too late to plan to go (airfare had shot up, work & family issues, etc).

My guess for tomorrow is:
20.5k capacity
+ 1K SRO
-1k+ couldn’t make it due to cancelled flights or something work/family last minute.
-500 to 1k unsold/unused (heck, I’ve even got an extra ticket at the moment).
Announced will be around 19.5 to 20k.

No shit the ones that didn’t cancel. I’m on one right now. Only reason wasn’t 100% full is because with the 2 3/4 hr delay some people who wouldn’t have made connections got off as they would have been stuck in DFW overnight.
