The PR gov't isn't "my side." And now if you make the case about one topic, you're expected to list every other topic also associated with it (on an internet message board nonetheless)?
The PR government is a Donk government and you're a partisan Donk so they are your side. You're like JSO in wanting to blame Trump Republicans for everything bad and give them no credit for anything good that happens. There is plenty of blame to go around in PR.
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Read it again. Slower this time.
I can read it one. word. at. a. time. Doesn't change the fact you placed ALL the blame on Trump's administration and didn't mention PR's government agencies. Not once.

I guess when you have 52000 posts and spend all day here, you just make up whatever you want to see.

But continue on; it's been fun (and sad) watching your mental decline and increasing paranoia.

Yeah, I'm real embarrassed.

Maybe we can persuade Spain to buy PR back from us. Offer a big discount.

Or practice good Democratic norms and admit them into the Union since that's what they want?

Tripz, a few years ago, about 97% of PR voters claimed to prefer statehood over independence or commonwealth status. But the referendum had about a 22% turnout. They don’t care. So why should Congress bother? :coffee:

And “Democratic” instead of “democratic” is spot on. If we admitted PR, that would be two more solid Donk Senate seats and one Donk representative. Sounds like your ideal workers’ paradise.

You can be excused for your ignorance because of your age, I guess

Actually, no you can’t

Go read about Puerto Rican history

On cue like a good Conk, deny democracy and the will of American citizens.

It's as if the GOP doesn't constantly ignore and disenfranchise voters...oh wait.

But yeah, we're more democratic than Canada.

We’ll need to build a big prison on PR the day they become a state in irder to house 75% of their legislature and 100% of their union officials

It’ll be like Illinois but only with Chicago and no Illinois

Well, there is the little matter of the Constitution (Article IV, Section 3, to be precise), a document of which you are willfully ignorant and merrily trash at every opportunity.

I don't know what your implication is here? That we wrote ourselves power over a people and well, that's the way it is. Too bad, we don't have to listen to them. Are you on an HOA board or something?

But hey, thanks for bringing up another issue with the Constitution.

You are a trip (pun intended). You probably favor DC statehood as well, if not the admission of Honduras and Guatemala. If you want to take away the power of Congress to determine the admission of new states, turn the process into a plebiscite. Amend or STFU. Why should we bend over for the views of about 22% of the voters of a kleptocratic commonwealth?

I am in favor of DC statehood if DC citizens want it..

As for amending, I think making it intentionally difficult and then saying "amend the Constitution!" is another issue with the Constitution. But that's for another day.

This is a simple philosophical question about democracy, not a question about laws which Puerto Rico had very little to no say in creating.

If a territory wants to become a state and votes for it, why should Congress ignore their will?

Actually, El Salvador has a better claim to statehood than Honduras and Guatemala

2/3rds of the Salvadoran population already lives in the US (true - based on absentee election ballots)

They are already on the US dollar and have been so since about 1990

They have Pizza Hut

They are basically Massachusetts

Simple question, simple answer. Senators represent entire states, and Representatives represent constituents in 435 separate districts. They are under no obligation to respect (much less surrender to) the express “will” of 22% of a place they don’t represent. Read up on our federal system. :dunce:

So you're just going to ignore that 2/3 of Americans support PR statehood?

What you're saying is that our federal system (and Constitution) not only does a great job of ignoring the will of American citizens living on a territory, but citizens on the mainland too.

Democracy!
