Chizzwold is correct. Our system was well-intentioned. Human nature seems to be able to maintain such a system for about four score and seven years or so. They all hell starts to break loose.

My point was this:
In a Republic the biggest obstruction to corruption and general malfeasance is "The Rule of Law"
in short: Nobody is above the law in a properly functioning Republic

Mega Corps have devised a work around ^ to this problem
(That's all)

So have presidents and many congressman. Hell even state and local governments find work arounds to their constitutions, codes, and ordinances at the expense of the “republic” and its citizens. Most of the time without consequences.

What's a greater threat to our Republic? The megacorps or the government itself?
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

in theory...
and according to Roman philosophy on political process one was fist a consul and then a Censor and after that service to the Republic you were appointed Senator after you had worked for the people

you were bound by dignity and honor to the people
So Mega Corps in theory are a greater threat to the Government
today I'd say it was 50/50

Agreed. Regardless, they’re similar in threat and in many instances, one in the same.

The game changed when Citizen's United made it official that government is for sale to the highest bidder.

Obviously the megacorps, they own the government.

There's some interesting debate regarding megacorps today, especially with the rise of globalism. NPR had a segment about it a few months back, but the argument is that megacorps are basically governments at this point. It simply takes a re-evaluation of the idea that a state must occupy land.

With a globalized economy, megacorps have direct influence over tens of millions of people, they can and do affect the policies of other states, they often wage non-physical wars against nations, and have the ability to create their own rules by picking and choosing which laws to follow around the world.

It'll take a concerted, international effort to clamp down on these landless fiefdoms.

That changed nothing. Merely codified it.

"Merely" codified it? I think thats a pretty big deal - an official statement of GAME OVER from the government to the governed.

Yup, add in 93 comments about human nature and I am surprised we have kept the same system this long. Just goes to show how well the Founding Fathers understood human nature and the progression of government.

You're angry because our political framework is stable and won't change on a whim. You're young, educated and I'm guessing have the financial resources to move. If you dislike the USA so much why do you stay? You might change it incrementally but you're not going to get the revolutionary change that you desire.

So... about 100 years ago
mega corps (like steel and oil) started hiring their own politicians to write the "laws" of the Republic
an excellent work around for a Republic and one not well foreseen by the fathers

So we are indeed still a Republic Ruled by Law
however the laws are sponsored almost entirely by Mega Corps
They own all of the necessary members of our political system

and so here we are...
A Healthcare system designed entirely around profit
a Military structure designed entirely around profit
a failing education system
a crumbling infrastructure
10% own 80% of everything

We are a Republic Ruled by Law
Well stated.
