Yes, it would have been much better had Trump waited for 1,000 deaths like Obama did with H1N1 back in 2009.

He was so very impressive in "leading from behind".

This has nothing to do with Obama....I know you are taking our cue from Trump trying to pass this off on others but Trump had a clear path on this one....speak the truth (it's a threat to our health).....comfort (we are working to keep you safe)....and acknowledge (it may be difficult short term...but we will get through this). He chose the path of blame, politicization and lies. No one was blaming Trump for the virus....they are blaming him for his poor reaction and "leadership". :thumb:

Poor reaction lol. The biggest and most important step Trump took was early on shutting down entry to the Chinese, despite accusations of ‘racism’ from the left.

The donks are trying to score politically with this by fear mongering through sensationalizing the threat, like its Contagion, and then accusing Trump of not doing enough.

If Trump keeps fvcking the football in the Administration’s response to CoVid 19, he can kiss his own political ass goodbye. Good grief, is this guy an incompetent! Sowing panic and self-pity wherever he goes.

Don't drink the kool-aid. The US President has next to nothing to do with how Coronavirus is going to spread.

I'm surprised the Dems aren't attacking his travel restrictions as racist yet.

Your problem is assuming reality matters. Hurricane Katrina proved a POTUS can take the blame for things caused by a combination of mother nature and incompetent governments he has no real control over.

From A friend who’s well connected...

Wall St bracing for a week of #coronavirus related cancellations from Corporate America.
Bank exec telling Stephanie Rhule to expect most Fortune 500 companies to announce employee travel restrictions ranging from non-essential to complete ban & more event cancellations ahead. Amazon, Salesforce, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and many others rolling out travel restrictions... consider these types of companies spend HUGE on airline, hotel, taxi, dining....corporate travel related expenses (i’m talking full fare kinda custys) and its CERA Week - huge energy conference in Houston officially cancelled. They were expecting delegates from 80 countries

I believe it. Right now both employees and badged contractors (like myself) can arrange free travel for the airlines we work for. Last week one airline told us that they're discussing a temporary ban for contractors, so to begin prepping for it.

Edit: which is funny, because the alternative is flying on the airline and billing them for it.

I don’t know why people complain about outbreaks being politicized

In this day and age everything is political.. and not just in the US

Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia are lying about the number of cases they have - purely because they are in thrall to China (Cambodia is pretty much a vassal state) .... political

China covered up initial reports of the outbreak, silenced and disappeared whistleblowers ... political

Trump saying we have it under control without any measures aside from a travel ban from China - political

CNN decrying a lack of diversity on the admin’s task force - political ... actually that’s just brainwashed, not political

Dems making hay off of Pence being made supervisor of the US response - political

Pence being made supervisor of the US response - political

:suspicious: It's not basically the flu, it's exactly the flu... only less deadly.

COVID-19: Approximately 2,871 deaths reported worldwide; 0 deaths in the U.S., as of Feb. 28, 2020.

Flu: 291,000 to 646,000 deaths worldwide; 12,000 to 61,000 deaths in the U.S. per year.
The three main cold viruses are coronaviruses, rhinoviruses, and influenza. 20% of common colds are due to coronaviruses.

I don't think there's enough to say this strain is less deadly than the flu, or deadlier; more research needs to be made. Most people with common colds don't go to the doctor and we still haven't clarified how contagious this thing is. The death rate might go down significantly if it ends up being far more wide-spread than first believed. Of course the mortality rate could be higher, but we just don't know.

I simply don't understand how you (or anyone else) not involved in the science can simply declare a brand new coronavirus which only appeared three months ago as "exactly the flu." They're literally different strains of viruses.
All viruses, same symptoms... the biggest difference so far is that Coronavirus is far less deadly.
