Re: Coronavirus
I'm in the epicenter of this thing now in PA - Governor a few hours ago just unilaterally closed all schools in Montgomery County and directed that all non-essential retail businesses should close as well. Still leaving open grocery stores, medical-related places, and such. It's a flat two week closure of everything. I work in a nearby county and it doesn't really have any teeth to close private businesses so my work isn't affected yet.
As silly as politicians are, this ranks up there. Apparently there are more cases of covid-19 in my county than anywhere else in the state (might be like 13 in the county), but almost all of them are tied to a CHOP pediatrician in King of Prussia who had it and saw several patients and a police officer near there. Both those places are right on the border of other counties, and compared to where I live (it's a weird shaped county) I'm much further away from those cases than other counties are, but to make it easier, the governor just covered the entire county. Politicians.
My wife texted me as soon as the announcement happened and I told her to go to the grocery store right away - she said it was like Armageddon. No carts to found, people were hauling out carts full of bottled water and whole frozen chickens. And this is with grocery stores still slated to be open going forward. I think it's safe to say the panic is fully here.

Grocery stores, Walmart, Target, Big Box (Costco, Sam's, BJ's) probably will be their best week (and month) of sales ever..GannonFan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 1:29 pm I'm in the epicenter of this thing now in PA - Governor a few hours ago just unilaterally closed all schools in Montgomery County and directed that all non-essential retail businesses should close as well. Re: Coronavirus
On the positive side, I just checked Kayak and round-trip nonstop airfare from Philly to Denver is $97 on American. Probably going to do my summer trip with my sons via plane this year since it's cheaper than driving, even in a 40 mpg diesel.

The hospital my sister works at is doing this. https://www.wistv.com/2020/03/12/musc-s ... s-testing/
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Medical University of South Carolina has set up a drive-through tent for patients who have gone through their virtual testing online.
This drive-through site is in the parking lot of the Citadel Mall campus, outside the MUSC Health West Ashley Medical Pavilion, according to MUSC spokesperson Heather Woolwine. Testing will not be conducted inside the pavillion, she said.

Re: Coronavirus
Welp, so much for that. Disneyland is closed through the end of the month, and my guess even longer. Tried calling Disney to cancel the trip but their phones are down. If I can't get through tomorrow I'll call my credit card company and have the charges cancelled. I hate Disney, but was looking forward to the road trip with the fam to SoCal to see extended family and friends.
