Went to the grocery store for fruits and yogurt; the parking lot was packed. I turned around and went back home...not worth it.

Seems like large crowds at grocery stores is a great way to spread viruses. :twocents:

Curious how long it would take to get pharmaceuticals made here (or Canada/Mex).
That would require pharmaceutical companies to consider the insane and completely mad concept of making slightly less profit
Today as it stands Big Pharma is entirely in the business of MONEY MAKING
the life saving thing is a side effect - and completely irrelevant

:coffee:

this has been proven beyond debate
Your generalization is noted.

I"m thinking the sick people hang out at Walgreen's and CVS or any local drug store.

Each year 250,000 people in the US seek help for pneumonia (meaning there are more that don't) and 50,000 die of pneumonia in the US every year.

My parents waited two hours in line this morning at the grocery store.

I told them they probably got the virus waiting that long in a store packed with idiots like themselves.

Had breakfast at Chick Fil A with my sons. They're no longer using trays. Everything is served in to-go bags. I guess that will stem the tide of coronavirus.

They still say "my pleasure" every time I say "thank you", so I said "thank you" about five times. It's the little dance I do with the Chick Fil A people. It's a passive aggressive thing on both sides. Everyone sees through it.

What are they supposed to do, Trip? If everyone would just buy groceries as they need them like usual there wouldn't be huge crowds and empty shelves.

They were panic-buying stuff, like toilet paper (surprise!). This wasn't their usual jaunt to the grocery store.

Many states & big cities have shut down schools, but not NYC, despite a Chinese Virus breakout.

I'm just pointing out the stupidity of asking an entirely profit-based industry like Pharma to behave "otherwise" for goodness sake
Its a level of naivete and simple-mindedness that surprised me...

and
my thoughts on "how" companies should behave is irrelevant
the rules are already in place the standard is set

Of course its profit 1st for any lasting business, everything else 2nd. If a business doesn't make a profit, they don't stay in business. You may as well have said water is wet.

Get ready for domestic restrictions next. Banning large public gatherings is going to slow down the spread. But 3 things where you still have people crammed together spreading the virus : commercial passenger air travel, busses, and trains/subways. Going to probably have to stop those for at least a few weeks.

Profit over human life is as old as PG&E and beyond
Who cares if people die because we dump poison in their drinking water
by now expecting anything different is pretty stupid

BTW:
PG&E headed up and largely sponsored the bill that limited humans ability to hold corporations responsible
So poisoning and killing humans is now even less of a concern as corporations are now "not as responsible or accountable"

So we need to slow the spread further? I thought it wasn't a big deal. Just a bunch of media hype. Fake media of course.

Everyone cares, (esp the shareholders) because that's NOT making $$, because that resulted in:
-tanking stock price
-grounded fleet (1 yr & counting since March 2019)
-halt in production
-cancelled orders
-countless law suits
-lost share to Airbus
-bad press
That is costing Boeing billions when all said an done.
