Been hearing from fire fighters and police, that the government is not telling us how bad it's going to get. Don't want panic any worse than it is.

It's already that bad now. Presently, only the CDC is testing for C-19, and they are only running a fixed number of tests per day. They were scheduled to increase testing by 3X to 4X today (GA is going from 50 a day to 200 a day). Expect the numbers to spike really soon, maybe tomorrow.

Yep. Italy spiked big time over the weekend. 26,000 cases, 40% hospitalizations, 2000 ICU patients, 2200 deaths.

Other than bread and TP and sanitizer, the Asian grocery store (H-Mart) near me was fully stocked last night.

Wonder about sporting goods stores. Guns and ammo are essential, as are outdoor gear if the shit really hits the fan. Also example Cabelas & Bass Pro do sell food, including bulk.

The "crazy prepper gun nut guy" doesn't look so crazy when the pandemic gets bad.

The Hiking FB page I am on people were complaining last week that freeze-dried food for back-packing was sold out basically everywhere.



Also seeing long lines at gun and ammo stores, which looking at some of the pictures it seems like the yahoos think the actual Chinese are invading.

Delaware's restrictions are now out (mirroring MD, PA, NY):

Delaware bars, restaurants and taverns Monday were ordered by Gov. John Carney to halt dine-in services to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The establishments are allowed to offer pickup, takeout and delivery service.

Carney’s declaration begins at 8 p.m. Monday.

It also bans public gatherings of 50 or more people, consistent with updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and closes gaming activity at Delaware casinos.

This is another fine example of government failure. They have had multiple decades to prepare for this and they still failed. They ate a dick with Katrina and havent improved it since. (Thanks Obama)

There very well could be tens, or even hundreds of thousands of Americans with it- many of them with ZERO symptoms at all (examples cruise ship passenger, NBA player, Avengers actor, etc). That would be good news, since only 74 deaths so far. Which would mean a very low mortality rate.

Before someone says look at Italy (28k reported cases, 2k+ deaths), I bet hundreds of thousands of Italians have/had it.

After wrestling with our company's management today, they finally listened to us. We have one final "coordination" meeting tomorrow before we all WFH for the rest of the week and two weeks after that (except for one manager who wants to "hold down the fort").

We can do almost anything from home, but the managers here are old-school (some also don't think it's that big of a deal). It took a bit of convincing, including one mom who said that she's working from home no matter if they agree or not.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti ordered all bars and restaurants throughout the city to close through March 31. Takeout and delivery would still be available.
Connecticut: On March 16, Gov. Ned Lamont announced the closure of all bars and restaurants in the state effective March 16 at 8 p.m. Takeout and delivery will still be allowed.

Denver, Colo.: Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock announced at a press conference on March 16 that all bars and restaurants would be closed to on-site seating between March 17 at 8 a.m. and May 11. Takeout and delivery would still be permitted.

Agree with this to an extent. It's the critical cases that matter. The mild ones are basically just the flu, if that. My wife was feeling bad last week so she called into the doctor and they sent her to a local walk in clinic. They didn't test for anything and sent her home with a scrip but told her to go to an ER if she had chest pains/trouble breathing. She's fine now. Was it the Wuhan Flu? Who knows, and now nobody ever will.

Oh and me and the kid have been fine this whole time, so meh.

But then I mentioned how folks were saying this country couldn't have any drive-thru testing, and yet we have it... and he starting yelling "No we don't. This is all misinformation by Trump and his cronies." It was clear we weren't going to agree on what misinformation actually was.
