This is a tough one. I don't want to see any business discriminate in any way, although consumers do it all the time.
There are many examples of situations where I can "understand" the want to discriminate though.
Let's say you open up a bar/restaurant with a certain vision of the type of atmosphere you would like to host. But it's possible it goes completely sideways on you. Maybe it turns out to be like a college-type hangout, or a magnet for the early bird specials, or a biker bar. All of those could limit your business as people outside of those groups might refrain from patronizing. I do realize that you can "steer" the atmosphere to what you desire but that's not 100% guaranteed. And with today's speed of information, your reputation will spread quickly.

I think dress codes are reasonable. I think service can be denied for bad behavior, Dallas Cowboys or Boston Red Sox attire, and fat chicks.
Dude... you're killing me

I ask for biting sarcasm and sneering tirades and you give me thoughtful and painstaking analysis...

:ohno:
In that case, if the store owner does not want to serve Joos, fags, sandcrabs, Injuns, women with pussy hats, etc., it's their right to deny service.

How's that?

Bank of America warned investors on Thursday that a coronavirus-induced recession is no longer avoidable — it’s already here.

“We are officially declaring that the economy has fallen into a recession ... joining the rest of the world, and it is a deep plunge,” Bank of America U.S. economist Michelle Meyer wrote in a note. “Jobs will be lost, wealth will be destroyed and confidence depressed.”

The firm expects the economy to “collapse” in the second quarter, shrinking by 12%. GDP for the full year will contract by 0.8%, it said.

The customer is always an asshole. Part of your job is to put up with their bullshit but only to a point. I’ve learned over the years to be much quicker at pulling that trigger and back up my employees 100% on their decision making. We’re good peeps and generally permissive so if you’ve crossed a line, you’ve just talked yourself into that jail.

BTW...dress codes are for self important sucks.

Question for any armchair biologists of the board...we've got pollen everywhere here in the south. Pollen is basically living cells (the semen of plants). Can the airborne viral particles attach to pollen grains and then try to infect the gamete cells (thus neutralizing them)? The pine trees that are everywhere here will have done their good deed for the century if that's the case.

I'm not a biologist, but I did watch a replay yesterday of the 1979 game between the Phillies and the Cubs that ended with the Phillies winning 23-22. I don't think anyone thinks the virus has much affect outside of humans.

Obviously, but these are just what stats they have right now.
The only stats that matter are the scoreboard (fatalities), and whether or not the hospitals are swamped (beds/ventilators/ICUs).
This. Case counts are cute, but how are they impacting available hospital beds.

I agree, and that's the one stat that's strangely been missing in most of the reporting - how bad is it at hospitals right now? That's where the news stories should be, how are we doing there at the hospitals. That's why Italy fell apart, the hospitals couldn't handle it. I really don't care about the number of NBA players or Hollywood types who have tested positive but are asymptomatic, I want to know if the hospitals are handling it.

This is not really an accurate read on total hospital cases, but the "Serious, Critical" column as compared to other countries can give you a bit of a whiff. But certain localities where hot spots are are the real concern.

Thanks, I've seen this site before but didn't realize it broke it down to criticality.

US sits at 64 critical cases of 11,348. I'm assuming those are based on testing.

Yes. I think it's safe to assume all critical cases have been tested and in hospitals. But I'm sure there are many others that are in hospitals as well.

I think it's officially time to panic there are now........ (are you sitting down) 12,500 people in the USA with the China virus.

That means that 319,998,500 of us are going to die soon according to CNN that is still hyping this stupid bullshit.

Thank God people are seeing through their lies

Just watched a bit of news, Italy with one of the best healthcare systems in the world, just passed China for number of deaths. No funerals, they don't even know what to do with the bodies. Our social distancing isn't working and they expect total US deaths to be 2.2 Million.

First thing that popped to mind is the cake baking lawsuits. The above is politically based, the bakeries it was religion. Or how the Virginia restaurant refused to serve Sarah Sanders.

I guess I err on the side of whatever gives more freedom to both parties. You can refuse service, but it might cost you in the long run.
