One thing I love about CS.com...once we argue something, it’s argued to it’s natural conclusion, and then never brought up again.

Trump is saying a 2-3 week period before this peaks. Minnesota government is saying 13 more weeks before peak. Minnesota is trying to take care of it's hospitals, Trump is trying to take care of his image. Who to believe? Hope for Trump, plan for Minnesota.

Do you believe the info coming out of Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China?

If you do, 13 weeks is a loooooong stretch. 3-5 much more likely.

The US is many South Koreas (roughly the size of Virginia) separated by farmland. And each is on a different schedule. Some of the most populated areas got hit first. That will skew the US peak towards their schedule even though the Minnesotas of the country will peak later.

South Korea has a shitload of farmland/rural. Outside of Seoul and a couple medium sized cities on the southern coast, there’s a whole lotta nothin’ between ‘em. I would venture a guess 80% of SK’s cases are in the greater Seoul area....

I talk almost daily with my friend from SK, with family still there. Sounds like S Korea went to greater extents to slow the virus. They were scrubbing subways and inside buildings. Only 1 person per family could go shopping. Heavy fines for breaking the covid-19 lock-down rules. etc, etc. He says that a SK family can live a 6 lbs of rice for a long time. He's been sending mask and hand sanitizer home since December.

Yes, it’s amazing what a country that’s essentially a mock democracy can do to their people to ensure compliance.

Either that, or people of the Asian persuasion are just naturally more immune to the shit.

Yes, they are doing more than we are to prevent spread of this virus. Trump has gotten a little better at calming the nation, see Stock Market since last Monday. Still don't know if I trust him on the 2-3 week peak.

:? Trust him? He doesn't know. The medical professionals don't know. We are all flying blind. And it's just a matter of time before people start taking chances, because we are Americans and don't like cooping. Without widely available treatments/vaccine, we will have multiple waves. And I'm not holding out hope for a significant warm weather effect.

We are going to be dialed back into the summer

Every Asian country that has loosened restrictions has had to tamp down again due to re-infection

China is lying about total cases and deaths by a factor of at least 10 and possibly 40

And we seem to be stuck on stupid in the US with the social distancing stuff

Get ready for the long haul

Agreed, without a medical solution to all of this (and the re-infections in Asia show that we really don't have an answer to any of this yet - either in the testing for it, the treatment for it, or obviously the vaccine for it) then this will go on for the foreseeable future. I don't see how we back anything off to any great extent until we get those medical solutions.

They are doing more because they have (as a general rule), very little freedom as a people. Sure, on the scale of other Asian nations they have more, but still they’re waaaaay below levels we’re used to as Americans. Thus, they can exercise control over their population that American politicians can only dream of.

And again, I’m not willing to give up freedoms for safety.

Probably. Ist cases US late Jan. 1st death 2/29. 2 months up (March--April). 2 months down (May-June). I'm guessing start to relax some stuff June. Gradual crowd relaxation starting some parts of the country July (restaurants, bars, sports arenas, theme parks, festivals, weddings, funerals, etc, etc), nationwide by sometime in Aug.
