I do always think they have a little more caution that what's warranted. I understand being extremely cautious, but I think I read somewhere that only about 30% of the US population is even eligible to give blood (and of that maybe 10% of those folks do).∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 11:28 amNice. I tried a few weeks ago but they turned me away because I had been in a malaria-risk country in the last 12 months, even though I took the meds and never got malaria. Oh well.GannonFan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 7:22 am On the positives, I haven't got any stimulus check yet (I have 3 kids, I get $500 per kid no matter my income). But, considering that my family's income hasn't been impacted yet by the lockdowns (still working everyday, and with hazard pay as well now) I sought out a local food bank and donated some money to them to help feed families in need.
And, did this a few weeks ago, started donating blood again. Always like to do it, but had forgotten as of late. Donated then, will donate in May, and will keep on donating now going forward. Times like these remind you to do your part where you can.

I said as much a month ago. Most people will get direct deposit (if filed in 2018 or 2019, SS recipients, people who register online), but millions will get Trump checks. Mostly will be poor folks, just like the (how many million?) that got 'Obama phones'.Winterborn wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:56 amThough it is a good campaign tactic. His name is going to go into just about every household and he can point back to it closer to the election and say, "remember that check I gave you?" Which is BS but you know he will use it.

Groups of asshats harassing women entering abortion clinics can be legally broken up. Nice positive, at least for now.

So in an effort to save lives, it ensure we can still extinguish lives via abortion.
BTW, what has a higher death toll to date on the year, abortion or the Chinese Flu?
Irony much?
Re: Positives from Covid-19
I would hope abortions are much higher, as one is a choice while Covid-19 isn't. And abortions kill nothing valuable.
Plus fetuses play a critical role in research (if the woman chooses), so the woman gets rid of an unwanted baby while society gains knowledge.
edit: I take the bolded above back. It's cruel to say, particularly if the woman is facing an unwanted abortion.

Would you tell a woman who has been trying to get pregnant for a while and finally did that what's in her womb isn't valuable?∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:58 pmI would hope abortions are much higher, as one is a choice while Covid-19 isn't. And abortions kill nothing valuable.

Your logic fails miserably.
You're saying somebody dying from Covid is not by choice, but a baby dying from an abortion is?

Already said it was cruel. It's a baby, not a body part.

Yes, I don't consider an unborn clump of cells as something with the any modicum of human rights.
It's really that simple. Born human = rights. Unborn human = no rights.

You're entitled to your opinion but couldn't it be argued that similar logic was used to decide that white human = rights, brown human = no rights? Men = rights, women = no rights?∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 7:41 pmYes, I don't consider an unborn clump of cells as something with the any modicum of human rights.

Some people believe that an unborn child should have rights at conception, others believe that it should have rights when it reaches the stage where it would be viable outside of the womb. You and others not until they are born. Do we know when an unborn child develops consciousness?

I feel the same way about Occupy Wall Streeters and Muslin terrorists, except they’re born clumps of cells with minimal brain stems, noxious ideas, and poor hygiene.∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 7:41 pmYes, I don't consider an unborn clump of cells as something with the any modicum of human rights.

So in this case, you choose to ignore science that is very much in the clear that the "unborn" is still a human life? I mean, the science isn't even fuzzy on this, human life begins at conception. Whether we choose to accept that or not doesn't change what it is. It's in discussions like this that it's clear that zealot partisans on the left and the right only pick and choose the science that agrees with their positions.∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 7:41 pmYes, I don't consider an unborn clump of cells as something with the any modicum of human rights.
