Missoula Baseball
All you Griz fans... Since we started a kind of affinity before, during and after our game last year, I thought I'd give a shout out for you all to keep an eye on our new pro player. We hated to see this guy go (a junior) and his bat will be hard to replace.
If your bent runs to attending the games, here's his stats so far.

Would love to get first hand accounts and accessments from anyone.

Re: Missoula Baseball
Almost went to an Osprey game while I was up there, but they were out of town most of the time, and the only chance would have been the night before I left.....

Good to see he's doing well Catmom.
Re: Missoula Baseball
I have watched 4-5 games this year. The kid is a stud. He won't be in Missoula very long.

If I get back from Billings in time on Friday I plan on going to game. Will let you know what I think.

Re: Missoula Baseball
Wow. With stats like that I'm surprised he spent the entire season @ Missoula. Seems like he's got South Bend written all over him.

D-backs '09 Draft class shines already
Goldschmidt tops hitters; '08 draftee Hose leads pitchers
http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/new ... p&c_id=ari
Paul Goldschmidt, DH/1B: It's a rare situation where a short-season player earns the nod for one of MLB.com's organization end-of-season awards, but the D-backs' eighth-round pick this spring out of Texas State had a rare season. At designated hitter and first base at Missoula, he put up numbers that would be impressive over the course of a full season, hitting .334 with 18 homers and 62 RBIs in just 74 games, along with 27 doubles. He posted a .408 on-base percentage and his .619 slugging percentage ranked fourth in the Minors, with 30 multihit games. Half (48) of his 96 hits went for extra bases. Whether his power will translate at bigger parks and in the upper levels remains to be seen, but it was enough in '09 for him to wrap up this honor.
