Re: Positives from Covid-19
over the many years that we've debated abortion, I've settled into a "states rights" default position
I figure every state can do whatever they want - if people don't like it they can move or elect new officials

Man are you trying hard to suck me in here.
The Founders were extremists...to the British. They were flawed by today’s standards but also thoughtful in their ideals and set up a great system. We don’t utilize it in some of the ways it was intended like changing the constitution. It’s become a conservative crutch for certain issues.

The Founders were hardly extremists
Georgian Britain was practically infested with proponents of the Enlightenment. The whole idea of the natural rights of man had its largest number of adherents in Great Britain...
Even before 1789 there was a HUGE, powerful community of classical liberals in the UK.. including William Wilberforce. They outnumbered the Enlightenment minded American founders by a factor of ten
At the time of the Revolutionary War, King George literally stood alone, and all he had was the Royal Navy which was spread out across the globe. He could hardly maintain control of Parliament, which was literally infested with the fellow travelers of Adams and Jefferson
I can suggest a reading list if you’d like... the whole idea of the Founders being radicals in the late 18th century is function of revisionist bullshit

Au contraire. I'm trying to give you as many outs as possible to distance yourself from Trip and his extreme views. THAT's what you should be biting on.

Yes. It’s a sign of weakness to admit you might be wrong. Thank you.

I did. And this is the philosophical difference between liberals and conservatives.
Cheers!

Ah yes, it’s better to be decisive and obstinate than correct.

Not sure about the rest of the lot
I score your post as "partially correct"
Jefferson is still radical by any measure - even to this day
I will provide examples if necessary
