It's VERY easy for somebody say they'd like to see change that would force them to make sacrifices if they can also say that change can't be made.

I agree with 89 here - regardless of political affiliation, what rich person is saying we should have changes and ISN'T saying that from the comfort of their mansion or luxury apartment or yacht or somewhere else where ridiculously rich people spend their time? If these rich folks were truly serious about what they say when they say things should be different then they would be living in a very modest house, making their own food, doing their own chores around the house, driving a regular car, and taking regular vacations. And then they could be plowing all that extra money into efforts to fix the system they say is so broken. I don't see them really doing that, and certainly not in any great numbers. So it is easy to say that things should change as you catch a private jet to go hang out for a month on an exclusive island that you've purchased and have staffed with chefs and butlers and anything else. Ridiculously rich people on both sides of the political aisle find common ground in that regard.

Both George Washington and Robert E Lee (who inherited most of Washington’s slaves through his wife, Mary Custis) spoke about it - how they knew they were perpetrating a great evil by maintaining the institution of slavery but they saw no way out of it that did not involve themselves at the end of a rope or in a war

leadership means leading by example and 99.9% of all politicians do not understand that at all. But we keep electing them so I guess its ok

Ultimately it would take an uber-wealthy Liberal to fix our taxation loophole (slash} revenue vs. expenditure problems

its absolutely fascinating - they speak of the conservative billionaires as those who seek to bankrupt the world in their endeavors
to gain more and more - and they themselves would like to see change but know any attempt to change and they would be hung in the street

I think this is a coded way to say "I know someone will find more than one way I'm not practicing what I preach". Like Trump MAGA gear made in China or Cenk Uygur pushing back against unionization of TYT employees.

Of course, all you would really have to say is "I'm trying to compete in the race to the bottom, we need to change laws and I'll gladly comply", but I'm not sure if they really want to change laws, either.

I said awhile ago there’s less than a 50% chance that Biden is the nominee. Cuomo deserves some criticism for early inaction with the crisis and the progressives won’t love him for his middle right stances. But they don’t have to love him, and the media spotlighting for the last month will wash some of that away.

He’d have a better chance of beating Trump at this point.

Biden's own issues are what's going to keep this close, and if things stabilize or improve economically Trump could ride that to another term. Biden is just a placeholder now - they really need to slam dunk the VP nod so that will be interesting to say the least.

Reality. Are you saying that having Buttigieg and Klobuchar and Bloomberg all drop out and endorse Biden didn't impact the race, negatively for Bernie and positively for Biden? I know you're able to suspend rational belief, as the Russia thing displayed in spectacular fashion, but surely you don't deny this too, do you?

Buttigieg, Klobuchar, and Bloomberg weren't performing or keeping pace in states or delegates. It's normal for candidates to start dropping out as the primary season goes on. No?

I like her, a lot actually. I doubt she has the gravitas to be on the ticket as a VP (she's just one year into her first elected office as a Representative) but I like the age and her background and her performance so far.
