I remember when Nolan Ryan retired. Read that his cards skyrocketed in value. I have 3 of these in mint (or near mint) condition. Was tempted to sell two of them for $300 each. But never did.

In today's world, you would need to get it graded to get $300, thats for a PSA NrMt 7.

Here’s a positive -

More Americans will appreciate the value of decentralized government and local solutions to problems

Like San Antonio!

Have solved all their other problems, the kommissars of the city council have adopted an ordinance to stop the use of China references when referring to the Wuhan Flu

I’ll be totally honest here

SCOTUS will kill things like this the minute a municipality or state tries to enforce it

Because it is obviously unconstitutional

But...

I like these kinds of things because they get to fester for a couple years before they get to the high court

And in the meantime the good people of San Antonio or Peoria or wherever get to experience a world where their own Supreme Soviet is encouraging them to snitch on each other for thought and word crimes

Incrementalism might be a good thing since it might well save us from the new Maoism that so many progressives want to bring about ... people get a little taste and decide they dont like it before ordering the entree

On a side note (and probably a subject for a different thread)... is it just me, or is there a plurality of elected officials in this country (including the one at the top) that has an alarming ignorance if civics and Constitutional law?

It's happening.....

A rare positive from COVID, the theatrical release of "Hamilton" (they shot full footage of the musical with the original cast) has been changed from being in theaters in October of 2021 to now being released this summer, July 3rd, on Disney Plus.

I would've flown to London to see it. Even on a whim. Although, I had a chance to buy London tickets (which were immensely cheaper than Broadway tickets - one good thing about London and the West End, they don't gouge you for tickets like NYC does) and we decided not to do it. Was more of not being able to schedule time off and the kids were younger. Didn't seem to make sense since we already saw it. And truth be told, I do balk now at paying a huge sum of money for seats in the back of the house when I hit the jackpot and had front row center for this show for just two Hamiltons ($20).

I actually had the 2021 date already in my calendar so that we knew to buy tickets - I just moved it up to July 3rd of this year. :thumb:

Trump appeals Labor Sec Scalia to help stop China investments in federal employee retirement fund

The change to retirement fund to include China investments could take effect in just a few weeks

President Trump is heightening efforts to stop Chinese investments from becoming part of federal retirement funds – now asking Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia to help stop the change ahead of a fast-approaching deadline.

“It has come to our attention that billions of dollars from our federal employees retirement fund will soon be invested in Chinese companies. This action would expose the retirement fund to significant and unnecessary risk. And It would channel money from federal employees' money to companies that present significant national security and humanitarian concerns,” in part reads a May 11 letter to Scalia from national security adviser Robert O’Brien and National Economic Council Chairman Larry Kudlow.

The letter to Scalia also argues the matter is now of urgent importance given the coronavirus pandemic, which started in China and perhaps mishandled by the Chinese community government, and that the change could go into effect as early as June.

Trump in recent weeks and months has been aggressively trying to stop a 2017 decision by the board that oversees the Thrift Savings Plan – a retirement savings fund that is similar to a 401(k) for federal employees and military members – from including the Chinese investments, reportedly worth roughly $4 billion.

Trump just several days ago nominated appointees to the five-person Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board, to replace retiring members, in an effort to eventually reverse the decision.

I have the right to not wear a mask while in a private business that requires them. I’m looking at you Costco.

A restaurant has the right to disobey emergency regional and state health code restrictions.

I have the right to play golf in a foursome, two to a cart.

If the government can require that people wear masks, can they not also require the opposite? Could they rule that hijabs are illegal because they interfere with identification which is necessary to protect people from criminal activity or some other reason?

That’s a good example of what I’m getting at. Our ongoing battle. Health codes require me to have a bleach bucket and hand washing station within 10 feet of all food and beverage prep work stations. That’s a forced expense on me that takes away my rights to run a business as I see fit.

Why do they impose that and is it constitutional?
