HERO Pre-Season FCS Poll
It's out, and there are some surprises. Like Sac State at #4 and Austin Peay at #13. I'm not sure how that's justified. While Sac likely deserves to be included in the poll (particularly given that Kevin Thomson returns), I'm not sure that the total returning talent rates ranking so high, particularly given the way we finished the season. Austin Peay fans in particular must be screaming bloody murder, and they have a pretty good argument (unless they've been hit hard by graduation and transfers, which I highly doubt). Three MVFC in a row at the top and four Big Sky in the Top Ten are also a surprise.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: HERO Pre-Season FCS Poll
Hens at 15 should be automatic disqualifier for this ranking (I don't think two guys combining qualifies as a "poll").

Re: HERO Pre-Season FCS Poll
No one point out we're higher than the Bobcats
Er, forget I said that.

Also not the three I would have expected, but three nonetheless....Winterborn wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 11:39 amAbout time.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 9:43 am It's out, and there are some surprises. Honestly a bit surprised that UNI is in there. I figured somewhere around 5-7.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 12:21 pmAlso not the three I would have expected, but three nonetheless....

Re: HERO Pre-Season FCS Poll
If MVFC were to have three in a row at the top, I would have expected NDSU, either SIU or IL State, and UNI....

Re: HERO Pre-Season FCS Poll
Portland State in the ORV list. Considering that we haven't really done much the last few years (other than win in Missoula) makes me wonder. But, we were one of a few teams to get our spring work in so maybe that is it.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 9:43 am It's out, and there are some surprises. Re: HERO Pre-Season FCS Poll
Last year's HERO's pre season poll. Only 3 of their top 7, and 6 of their top 12, and only 10 of their top 25 made the playoffs.
1. JAMES MADISON
2. NORTH DAKOTA STATE
3. UC DAVIS (5-7, no playoffs)
4. MAINE (6-6, no playoffs)
5. SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
6. JACKSONVILLE STATE (6-6 no playoffs)
7. EASTERN WASHINGTON (7-5 no playoffs)
8. WOFFORD
9. ILLINOIS STATE
10. TOWSON (7-5 no playoffs)
11. WEBER STATE
12. ELON (5-6 no playoffs)
13. NICHOLLS
14. MONTANA STATE
15. FURMAN
16. CENTRAL ARKANSAS
17. YALE ----
18. INDIANA STATE (5-7, no playoffs)
19. CHATTANOOGA (6-6, no playoffs)
20. SAM HOUSTON STATE (7-5, no playoffs)
21. ALCORN STATE ----
22. KENNESAW STATE
23. PRINCETON ----
24. EASTERN KENTUCKY (7-5, no playoffs)
25. THE CITADEL (6-6, no playoffs)
This year's pre season poll will prove to be equally as worthless.

They are probably low balling El Cid this time around. This year’s team is going to be top 3 in the SoCon if not the outright championsBDKJMU wrote:Last year's HERO's pre season poll. Only 3 of their top 7, and 6 of their top 12, and only 10 of their top 25 made the playoffs.

Re: HERO Pre-Season FCS Poll
Well, they have the Citadel #2 in the Socon behind Furman. Its just that they only have 2 So-Con teams ranked- Furman and Citadel.CID1990 wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 10:15 pmThey are probably low balling El Cid this time around.
