I live right outside Portland and didn't realize there had been an attempt to set up an autonomous zone here. East county is very diverse ideologically (we still say the Pledge of Allegiance before meetings) and it gets more conservative when you cross the Cascades.

I think it's fucking hilarious that the same people who just INSIST ANTIFA isn't real ALSO believe there's a white supremacist behind every fucking tree.

Let's just label ANTIFA and the KKK as terrorist organizations and be done with it so both sides can quit whining.

Seattle protesters currently occupying a six-block "cop free zone” that includes a shuttered precinct are now demanding things like free college and rent control on top of police reform following George Floyd’s death.

A lengthy, 30-point list posted online by demonstrators, titled “the demands of the collective black voices at Free Capitol Hill to the government of Seattle, Washington,” is calling for sweeping changes in the justice system, health and human services, the economy and education.

“We demand that the Seattle Council and the Mayor defund and abolish the Seattle Police Department and the attached Criminal Justice Apparatus,” reads its first point, adding that “existing pensions for Seattle Police” should also be wiped out.

As of Thursday morning, there is no apparent leader of the group. The downtown space where the protesters are amassing includes numerous restaurants and bars, an apartment building and a police precinct that was closed earlier this week in hopes of easing tensions following days of clashes between locals and cops.

Seattle Assistant Police Chief Deanna Nolette told KOMO News that the department wants to start sending officers back to the precinct, but the lack of organized leadership from the protest group is stalling efforts.Some of their police-related demands, however, are more specific.

“We demand that between now and the abolition of the SPD that each and every SPD officer turn on their body cameras, and that the body camera video of all Seattle police should be a matter of easily accessible public record,” one point reads.

The list also asks for a ban on the use of armed force by Seattle officers, which includes “no guns, no batons, no riot shields [and] no chemical weapons, especially against those exercising their First Amendment right as Americans to protest.”

Yet, other demands on the list appear less related to the discussions about police accountability taking place across the country in the wake of Floyd’s death.

In the list’s economic section, there are calls for “de-gentrification of Seattle, starting with rent control,” “free college for the people of the state of Washington” and the “restoration of city funding for arts and culture to re-establish the once-rich local cultural identity of Seattle.”

Its health section asks medical facilities in the area to “employ black doctors and nurses specifically to help care for black patients.”

The protesters also say Seattle should “disallow the operations of ICE” there, release “any prisoner currently serving time for a marijuana-related offense and expunge the related conviction” and that “prisoners currently serving time be given the full and unrestricted right to vote.”

Well if nothing else they learned well from their puppet masters, Pelosi and Schumer. Ask for the fucking MOON.

Seattle's mayor and Washington's governor are in some serious denial. As is CNN...

(CNN)The mayor of Seattle on Wednesday told President Donald Trump to "go back to your bunker," after Trump appeared to suggest he would intervene in the city's growing protests and called for law and order.

"Take back your city NOW. If you don't do it, I will," the President warned Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan on Wednesday. "This is not a game. These ugly Anarchists must be stooped [sic] IMMEDIATELY. MOVE FAST!"

Trump also claimed that the protesters, who he called "domestic terrorists," have taken over Seattle. The President has threatened to use active military to tamp down protests and has encouraged governors to deploy the National Guard to help assist with demonstrations.

The two Democrats, Inslee and Durkan, responded to the President on Wednesday, ratcheting up the Twitter spat during dual health and economic crises and nationwide civil unrest over racial injustice.

"Make us all safe. Go back to your bunker," Durkan wrote, referring to Trump being moved to the White House bunker for nearly an hour amid intense protests last month.

"A man who is totally incapable of governing should stay out of Washington state's business. 'Stoop' tweeting," Inslee wrote. Trump responded to the taunts on Thursday, reiterating his threat to get directly involved in tamping down the protests.

Durkan's office responded late Tuesday in a statement to KOMO, saying the mayor "will not be distracted from the critical work that needs to be done at a moment that Seattle is facing its most challenging time in its history. "As the person who originally investigated the Seattle Police Department for the unconstitutional use of force, Mayor Durkan believes that SPD can lead the nation on continued reforms and accountability, but knows this week has eroded trust at a time when trust is most crucial," the statement read.

Protesters have also camped out and occupied the area outside Seattle police's East Precinct building in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, which protesters are now calling the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.

Contrary to online rumors, Seattle officials say they have no indication that the occupied area is being coordinated by left-wing activist groups under the umbrella of Antifa.

"City officials have not interacted with 'armed Antifa militants' at this site, but will continue to be on site to monitor the situation closely," Lori Patrick, a spokesperson for Durkan, told CNN Wednesday.
