Yep. And the Portland PD finally decided to start doing something Thur morning, and conicdentally, the violence was apparently tamped down Thur night:

Portland police clear parks across from federal courthouse in early-morning sweep

Portland police cleared an entrenched encampment at Lownsdale Square across the street from the federal courthouse in downtown early Thursday at the request of Oregon State Police, who are set to assume control of the scene of nightly protests that have roiled the city.

The Portland Police Bureau said the city park and neighboring Chapman Square, as well as the sidewalks surrounding them, will remain closed.

The sweep will provide city staff with a safe environment to do repairs and “much needed renovation,” said Police Chief Chuck Lovell.

Mayor Ted Wheeler said the move was part of the plan for federal officers to leave the protection of the courthouse to state troopers....

.... The parks have been the staging grounds for nightly clashes with federal officers from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective Services and Customs and Border Patrol agents.....

So if the Portland PD had gotten off their arse and done this weeks ago, we wouldn’t have seen the level of violence in the 1st place.

Just a guess, but assume the local police where "happy" to do their job. They have been directed to stand down for a LONG time. Very similar to Seattle police...until the mayor's house got a visit from peaceful protestors.

I should have clarified, its the police leadership (thought I read the mayor was the actual commissioner) who wouldn't let the PD do their job. I'm sure the rank and file weren't happy about how they were being handcuffed..

Portland PD came out pretty heavy last night and cleared a group looking to cause shit at a police station. Seriously, this is THE most active I have seen the PPD.

On a separate note, I find it rather coincidental that mere hours after protestors show up at Seattle Mayor's house to protest, Seattle PD rolls in and shuts down CHAZ at 5am the next morning.

Then, about a week ago, Portland mayor tries to walk among the protestors and his plain clothes security detail of 5-7 guys has to remove him from the mob and take him to safety, as it looked as if I would get violent. Now Portland PD has been unchained.
