That's not how the process works. The word of people you interact with does not outweigh the needs to see sources and methods in regards to evaluation.

People who obviously have made a decision without seeing the facts. Not one of those fuckers came to his defense during the trial, so they don't know shit either.

Mann is a snake oil salesmen and will remain as such until he divulges all information on his experiment, as the scientific method asks.
Mann won. It’s really quite old news.

Sigh. We’ve been through this before. Benghazi went through less scrutiny and he was still exonerated. Retraction on page 17, truther.

How about another 2-3 years of social distancing and masks?
Tam said she agreed with Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease specialist in the U.S., who told Congress last week that he was "cautiously optimistic" that a safe and effective vaccine will be available by the end of the year.

Despite that, she said public health officials are planning for a scenario in which measures that have been put in place thus far, including physical distancing to limiting crowd sizes, could be required even after a vaccine is found.

"[A vaccine] is one important layer of protection," said Tam. "It is a very important solution if we get a safe and effective vaccine, but I would say that the public health measures that we have in place — the sort of personal, daily measures that we take — is going to have to continue

Hey klam

You know it is possible to acknowledge anthropogenic climate change and still believe Mann is at least somewhat suspect because he won’t show his work, right?

ACC is settled science. The effects of ACC are not - they are, at best, educated guesses. Mann’s hockey stick is one of the least supported theories out there- and that doesn’t mean he’s wrong - but insistence that he has somehow been “exonerated” or proven correct IS in fact flat-eartherism. It is insistence that an unsupported theory is fact.

Ah ok.

I thought we were talking about the veracity of his hockey stick theory.

You want to explain to klam that courts don’t validate scientific theories, or are you on the fool wagon too?

Did I say he was accused of a crime?

Here’s one investigation that came to the same conclusions that Penn a State did as well several investigations in England.

Again...we’ve been over this before.

Being cleared of malfeasance in Climategate is not the same as providing your data and methodology for review, although it does put one more nail in his douchebag hack scientist coffin.

Trying to find ways to suppress requests for data AND attacking your skeptics. Totally against the scientific method.

That guy should be in the State Penn, not Penn State.

Im just trying to figure out how a civil court can validate a scientific theorem and make it into a fact

Next up...the Midwest.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office told residents: “Wear a mask if you want, if you don’t want to, that is fine also”. In Oneida county, the sheriff said the governor’s order “is in violation of the constitution” while the sheriff of Racine county called the order “government overreach”.

Some praised the sheriffs for standing up for individual freedom while others accused them of politicizing a health emergency, and of picking and choosing laws to enforce.
A doctor at the forefront of combating coronavirus at a major Wisconsin hospital was despairing.

“This has become so political. There should have been a straightforward message from the beginning about wearing masks to protect others. It’s too late now. In the present climate, I think this is unstoppable and a lot more people are going to die than would have if politics didn’t get in the way of health,” said the doctor who did not want to be identified because the corporation that owns the hospital did not give him permission to speak.

Duh!

Usually have 500,000 bikers, only expecting 250,000 over the weekend. It would be pretty miraculous for me to have a picture from this year already.

No, its' a meme, implying that there would be a large crowd of people with no masks, and a good test on the spread of covid in a crowd. If you can't understand that, get you head out of Trump ass.

This. Lock it all down, establish a baseline for testing, tracing, and treatment.

An economist and an epidemiologist. Osterholm is one of those guys who’s been right from the start...
The United States has now surpassed five million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 160,000 deaths from the virus as tens of millions of Americans file for unemployment, causing experts to debate how the nation should respond.

Neel Kashkari, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, says the answer should be a return to mandated lockdowns in every state for up to six weeks in an effort to save both lives and the economy.

"If we aren't willing to take this action, millions more cases with many more deaths are likely before a vaccine might be available," Kashkari wrote in a New York Times op-ed on Friday alongside Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota

Assuming that there is even an effective vaccine. And what if there isn't? Do we stay locked down indefinitely? :coffee:

White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci that the chances of scientists creating a highly effective vaccine — one that provides 98% or more guaranteed protection — for the virus are slim.

Scientists are hoping for a coronavirus vaccine that is at least 75% effective, but 50% or 60% effective would be acceptable, too, he said.

The FDA has said it would authorize a coronavirus vaccine so long as it is safe and at least 50% effective. .
Fauci has previously said he worries about the “durability” of a coronavirus vaccine, saying if Covid-19 acts like other coronaviruses, it may not provide long-term protection.
