One would hope we would, but there's no guarantee of that. Everything we and the rest of the world are doing is pinned on us having an incredibly effective vaccine and the ability to have herd immunity. Based on the science we see so far that seems to be pretty wishful thinking, but maybe positive thinking will make it happen. We certainly don't seem to have the stomach to deal with the messy details of what to do if that doesn't happen.Winterborn wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 6:36 pmI think by the time a vaccine comes out (Russian one aside) we will have at least a bit better handle on the life cycle of COVID and the direction it is going.

I will accept it.

What’s your level of tolerance for lives lost?

People don’t have the stomach for.

Until the Bikini Team comes out of quarantine, I won’t believe it!

Sweden is definitely the one to watch. Hope their numbers continue to trend down. But even their Fauci has admitted they should have been more restrictive with lockdowns. And their death rate is 7%.
https://www.newsweek.com/sweden-emails- ... 1597319363In June, Tegnell conceded that too many citizens had died. "If we were to encounter the same disease again... I think we would settle on doing something in between what Sweden did and what the rest of the world has done," he said, the BBC reported.
Not only did COVID-19 not come to a halt, but herd immunity is still "nowhere in sight," according to a Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine study published Tuesday.
"It is clear that not only are the rates of viral infection, hospitalization and mortality (per million population) much higher than those seen in neighboring Scandinavian countries, but also that the time-course of the epidemic in Sweden is different, with continued persistence of higher infection and mortality (as one is inexorably linked to the other) well beyond the few critical weeks period seen in Denmark, Finland and Norway, whose rapid lock-down measures seem to have been initially more successful in curtailing the infection surge," the authors wrote in their academic analysis.
In terms of COVID-19-related deaths, Norway, Denmark and Finland are each believed to be in the hundreds not thousands, current statistics indicate

This could be one the first major game changers in fighting the pandemic. Rarely am I this enthusiastic. Here’s why.
Follow if interested.
1. One reason? Saliva.
We already have it. We don’t need to export it from Italy or run out. We don’t need to stick something 4 inches up a kid’s nostril.
But that’s just the start.....

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced early Monday that the country’s general election will be delayed until October, citing concerns over a resurgent coronavirus.
The postponement of the September 19 election until October 17 comes despite New Zealand being one of the most successful countries to curb the pandemic.

Ah, the good old days (1990's) when Old Milwaukee could objectify women and Bud Light could make fun of Indian accents in their commercials.

I'll take one for the team and check out the Brazilian women's volleyball teams.

Those women were true heroes. They united the US and we were finally able to cheer for a foreign country in the Olympics. They brought us together in a way we have never seen before. We watched every match and had no clue what the rules were. It didn't really matter.
