No.

All three were horrible. Trump, Biden, and Wallace.
This was and will continue to be a national scar.

I think this platform may be outdated.

We are a society now conditioned to consume information quickly, not thoroughly.

A 2 minute response forces the same 'greatest hits,' that's all you gotta do. Stick to the hits.
It's speaking in Tweet and looking for a viral moment. That is, if you can get a word in.

I do think Trump set a precedence for this in 2016 and both candidates did again tonight.

But we should re-think this entire format.

And cut the fucking mics.
   It was a mess, for sure. I thought Biden did better than expected. He let Trump get under skin and began to stumble. But I suspect that was Trumps strategy - be a brash, loud mouth bully on stage and placate the lemming base of his.

Wallace did a good job trying to reign in Trump. Anyone would've failed at that job.

And yes to cutting the mics - don't know how many times I made that remark to MrsCCU.

That was equally as bad as Trump not condemning white supremacists
WALLACE: You have repeatedly criticized the vice president for not specifically calling out antifa and other left-wing extremist groups. But are you willing, tonight, to condemn white supremacists and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities as we saw in Kenosha and as we've seen in Portland? Are you prepared to specifically do that?

TRUMP: Sure, I'm prepared to do that. But I would say almost everything I see is from the left wing, not from the right wing. If you look, I'm willing to do anything. I want to see peace.

WALLACE: Then do it, sir.

BIDEN: Do it. Say it.

TRUMP: You want to call them? What do you want to call them? Give me a name, give me a name, go ahead — who would you like me to condemn?

WALLACE: White supremacists, white supremacists and right-wing militia.

TRUMP: Proud Boys, stand back and stand by. But I'll tell you what: Somebody's got to do something about antifa and the left. Because this is not a right-wing problem — this is a left-wing problem.
One was a mis-step of being defined socialist based on someone else’s policy wish list, most of which is already being implemented by much of the world but would be watered down in ‘Murica.

The other is a thinly veiled threat of political violence that goes nicely with his appeals for “poll watchers.”

Not equal in my opinion.

This is going to be my second time working the polls.

Parties definitely send poll watchers, but they go through an entire legal and training process. And like the poll workers, there's specific laws they have to abide by at the polling precincts.

I'm pretty sure we're now going to have random people showing up this year, which is a form of voter intimidation.

The election officer for my team sent an email saying he'll have more info on how to deal with "groups of illegitimate poll watchers" if it ends up happening (this was before last night). There's processes for dealing with one random person showing up, but not groups.

When Trump was asked to condemn white supremacy he should've said "who are you talking about? It seems anyone critical of anti-racist religion can be called a nazi these days."

It was a grim reminder that there is nothing amusing about the slow but almost certainly inexorable decline of the United States into a senile gerontocracy whose basic organizing principles are numbers going up on a computer screen somewhere and mindless entertainment. The whole thing is as painfully sad as it is well deserved.

I would rather watch Birdemic: Shock and Terror on a grainy VHS transfer dubbed over by a screeching Yoko Ono than another minute of this, much less two more evenings.

But he didn't. He brought up the name of a white-supremacy group and told them to standby.

Seems like he sucked in this instance, but I was listening to the radio this morning and they were wondering if anyone short of a kindergarten teacher could have moderated Trump last night.

It was really both Trip. Trump did worse IMO, but Biden fell for it hook, line a sinker.

What is it going to take for these debate organizers to come up with the idea of a kill switch for the mics?

I don't know why they need to have so much interaction. Most of the debate should really be pointed questions at each candidate, and if they don't answer the question directly (common approach anymore is to ignore the question and fall back on a tried and tested campaign talking point). Heck, I'd be fine with some questions being issued before the debate and have them come back with a cogent answer, even if it is just rehearsed. If we need the candidates to interact, why don't we have each be able to ask questions of each other, but again, with the mics controlled - after you ask your question, mic is cut. The fact that we can't even setup debates, let alone have one without two old dudes yelling back at forth at each other is another blemish on where we are today.

Wallace tried but without being able to turn off Trump's mic that debate was almost impossible to moderate.Trump was the classroom bully that refused to listen so the teacher needed to call the office to send security to take him away.

Chuck Barris is dead so maybe Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, Sally Jessy Raphael or similar should moderate the next debate.

Yeah. I agree.

Of course, BDK is the quintessential MAGA, Trump apologist, cultist. He's a victim of the cult and any deviation from the party line or their approved thoughts/dialogue will have him vilified and doxxed.

Come on. That wasn't a one-way street. Biden was just at bad at several points. Trump was worse, to be certain, but Biden was no choir boy.

Biden was bad a several points but Trump was bad more than he was good. It's fair to wonder if Biden was bad just because he was responding to Trump repeatedly crossing the line and if that was part of Trump's strategy.

They should use cones of silence with candidates in separate rooms for the next debate.

I'm telling you, put them in soundproof rooms and only turn the mic on when it's their turn to speak. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I like this suggestion:

At 5 seconds over, the moderator shoots them with a nerf gun. At 10 seconds, cold water is dropped from above. At 15 seconds, The Rock comes out and beats the sh*t out of them. At 20 seconds, Triple H shows up with a metal chair and slams The Rock over the head with it. At 25 seconds, we're watching Wrestlemania instead.
