There's incredible strong and resilient encryption tools out there to send it electronically. Sending flash media through the mail isn't a bad idea, but you better hope your package can absorb bumps, drops, something being put on top of it... It just doesn't seem smart. Secure FTP exists. If it's good enough for banks and the government, it should be good enough for a media outlet. Actually - I'd be willing to bet that Fox has Secure FTP and email protocols.
I just read TCs article. It's nothing. " We have information but we're aren't going to use it b/c he's not running for POTUS." Then what's the point?
First, how far do encryption tools work? You know darn well that you, or someone in your department, can read every email that is sent through the servers you work with.
Second, TC was talking about personal stuff on HB that they have and won't release. Not his business dealings.
How far? I'm not sure what you're asking.
In addition to using a secure file transfer protocol, the email and it's data is encrypted with a either a public or private (or both) key. Unless the receiver has the authority, they can't open the email. Think of it as "call and response." Email is referred to as Data in Motion. Larger corporations don't get send the email, but it's electronically broken into different parts, routed through different servers in different locations and delivered in one piece to your machine. That way, if someone starts snooping in one server and Location 1 of 3 the following message, " CAA Flaggy is the coolest!!!!" might only see "C gy !" and that's if they've breached the outbound email servers and have successfully hacked it.
That's exactly how any data you send on your phone is encrypted, btw. ESPECIALLY voice to text.
If you want a good laugh, there's an old school encryption product that's still around and has it's purposes - it's called PgP: Pretty Good Privacy. We stopped using it a while ago...it doesn't seem to fit our needs of protection.
