<12 million known cases
60-120 million probable cases (known cases x 5 to 10)

Probably going to be 150-200 million cases in the US by the time this is over. I don‘t buy 20% of that (30-40 million) will have disabilities, when probably 80%-90% of cases we never even know about..
That’s of course based on preliminary numbers and understanding of the dresses which could change. But I know they have seen organ damage asymptomatic patients, months after infection. Just another in a long line of possibilities.
Will be interesting to see. We won't know the long term effects for years to come.

My wife says they have tested a kid 4x for Covid in the last 3 weeks. He's got Rhinovirus - common cold - but his parents are bat shit crazy and convinced that he has Covid. :ohno:

Thanks. I'd be more worried about the lasting effects from COVID. Rose is pretty strong so I'm not worried. DHEC does free testing and it took all of 30- 40 minutes to drive to the site get the test and then drive home.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of the masks, the worry, the panic, everything. On top of election fatigue, i've got pandemic fatigue. I'm worn out. I have no bandwidth left to give to anything of importance.
We all are.

Just listened to Rogan interview with Yale University professor and physician, Nicholas Christakis. Interesting skill set of medicine, sociology, and networking systems. It’s a brief recap of how we got here and what to expect going forward. Not all bad and conditions can improve for the better depending on governmental and citizen’s actions. But as he said, right now we are only at the end of the beginning with this (meaning all of the effects). He thinks as late as 2024 before things are “normal” from an economic standpoint. He’s predicting 20% of those infected will have a permanent disability from the virus.
20%? That seems like a pretty unfounded swag. The vast majority of people who get it now don't end up with long term effects, surely not the 1 in 5 number you're throwing out there. There are certainly folks that will have long term effects - any respiratory disease tends to have some people who have long term effects, but 20% just seems like an astronomically high number without any data to support it.

Psst. I know it may not seem like it to some but there’s a pandemic going on.

Spokane and WA had huge upticks yesterday. No clean floors left in at least one Spokane hospital and they’re diverting staff and prepping auxiliary units.

Two more friends today posted they have it. One felt like a mild cold for two days and then...freight train. The other recovered from mild symptoms two weeks ago and now...also freight train.

Small businesses need more stimulus. Quality leadership would have figured that out months ago.

I think you're missing the point. There is a pandemic but the lockdowns have benefited large, mostly technology based companies and really hurt the small businesses. It's ironic that people calling for more lockdowns are also complaining about the "wealth transfer" that they cause.

I agree that small businesses need help but the irony of the situation isn't lost on me.

Hence why I mentioned the stimulus. I’m well aware of the further monopolization of the marketplace this is going to cause. I think I even spoke to that months ago. Wasn’t emergency funding/lender of last resort one of the reasons the Fed was set up to begin with? To lesson the hardships brought on by financial crises?

Further irony is anti-tax Republicans and deficit hawks now sounding the alarms. But yes, neither side really cares about small businesses. That’s not their constituency.

“This virus is real. It’s going to cause financial hardships for many. But the United States will pull through...together. To those people and small businesses worried about their future...we got you.”

Is what should have been said from the start. Quality leaders are honest but reassuring.

Are you kidding? Lockdowns = wealth transfer for the uber wealthy and increased government dependency for the masses = builds their case for socialism because “wealth bad, government good”

Anybody else with Thanksgiving travel plans? I'm heading to SoCal to see fam. We'll easily have about 10 households at the main dinner with festivities and libations raging on into the early morning hours. All of this obviously goes against all of Gov Newsom's recent "orders" of limited households and curfews. 8-)

The birthday celebration was at Napa’s French Laundry, perhaps the nation’s best (and most expensive) eatery. News of it leaked just hours after Newsom pushed new guidelines discouraging get-togethers of more than three households, as California has just passed 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases.

for week 46, 1,260 had COVID-19 listed as an underlying or contributing cause of death on the death certificate
