Agreed. And, the sad thing is that it was not just fringe Republican House members that signed into that... but, the damn Minority leader as well.
There were even House members that just got elected from the states they were arguing should have their elections thrown out. I guess they think the rules were fine for the House races, but there was something off with just the POTUS elections in their state.

That’s crazy talk!
Camps are for wannabe autocrats, their cult of personality followers, and shallow state enablers who attempt to subvert democracy.

Re: 2020 General Election
I heard the "1 in 1 quadrillion chance" claim yesterday. It is nonsense. It is also an example of how dishonest the Republicans are being. Here is one rebuttal of it:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... e-election
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2 ... -michigan/
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... e-election
Here is Politifact rating the claim "Pants on Fire:"Now, let’s take this slowly. Cicchetti concludes that if both those things were true, there’s almost no chance that Biden would have won. That is correct, given the premise. But those two things were not true. Polls showed that Biden in 2020 had more support from voters than Hillary Clinton got in 2016. And the people who mailed in their ballots were disproportionately Democrats. In short, both assumptions on which Cicchetti “quadrillion” statistic rests are false.
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2 ... -michigan/
But the lie is out there. I'm sure it's all over Facebook. It'll be impossible to make all the Trump cultists understand that it is a lie. They don't WANT to understand that it is a lie. They live in a false-"reality" misinformation bubble. And so it goes. This purported statistical analysis assumes votes in the November election were uniformly distributed across every county.
Building on that assumption, it says the late swings to Biden in four key states were statistically virtually impossible.
But the last votes to be counted weren’t a random sample — they were absentee ballots and from large cities, both groups that swing very heavily to Democrats.
Given which votes were uncounted in the wee hours of Nov. 4, the swing to Biden was expected, logical and legitimate.

Re: 2020 General Election
The social phenomenon by which somebody like Trump came to power and through which a major political party came to act like the Republican Party is acting right now is a threat to have us end up with a country where that sort of thing happens.
History will record this time as one in which an Authoritarian strong man tried to corrupt the system to remain in power after clearly losing an election while a major political party largely supported him in that effort. Hopefully it will record it as an unsuccessful attempt. But the fact that this kind of banana republic stuff is happening in the United States of America is really bad. And it couldn't happen if we didn't have a WHOLE lot of people living in a bizzaro world of misinformation and acting like idiots.
I just heard a TV reporter say "Trump supporters are stuck in a muddy, murky world of misinformation." I think he nailed that part. But there is also something just fundamentally wrong with them. It's not just the misinformation. It's their willingness to accept it when it is so obviously false. Willful ignorance. Also a hateful outlook.

Re: 2020 General Election
Here is an article posted the day after election day (November 4):
https://whyy.org/articles/mail-ballot-t ... o-victory/
It is another report showing the absurdity of claiming that Trump's lead dissipating as it did indicates something shady went on.

It is another report showing the absurdity of claiming that Trump's lead dissipating as it did indicates something shady went on.
The phenomenon was predicted PRIOR to the election. See https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa- ... SKBN27H1A6.So far, with about 1.9 million of 2.6 million expected mail ballots counted, Biden has won the vast majority. The exact percentage has varied throughout the day, but on average about 78% of mail ballots have been going to the former vice president, while Trump has been getting about 21%.
If that trend holds, Trump will pick up about 146,323 more of the still-uncounted mail ballots and Biden will win around 543,487 — enough for the vice president to wipe out Trump’s edge.
In Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, mail-in ballots cannot be counted until Election Day. While Michigan did recently pass a law that allows many cities to start processing mail-in ballots, such as opening ballot envelopes, the day before the election, they cannot begin to count votes.
Because mail-in ballots typically take longer to count than ballots cast in person, the initial results could skew Republican. Then, some experts say, expect a “blue shift” as election officials wade through the piles of mail-in ballots.

And anyone with a brainstem knows that it can be at least partially explained by people disliking Trump enough to vote against him but not caring or knowing enough about the down-ballot races to vote in them.
It's unusual but by itself is not evidence of fraud. Trump needs to present hard evidence not circumstantial evidence and conspiracy theories.

Republicans against Trumpism FB group:
From Texas filing withSupreme Court (denied Dec 11)
"Despite the chaos of election night and the days which followed, the media has consistently proclaimed that no widespread voter fraud has been proven. But this observation misses the point. The constitutional issue is not whether voters committed fraud but whether state officials violated the law by systematically loosening the measures for ballot integrity so that fraud becomes undetectable."
So there is no proof the election was rigged because the rigging was not detectable. Therefore the election was rigged.

FTR - I think officials made decisions based on the virus that were reasonable in an emergency but those decisions must stand up to constitutional muster. I don't think there was systematic fraud but I do think there were instances of fraudulent behavior. Telling observers that counting was done and continuing after they left is fraudulent. Not checking signatures closely enough is at a minimum sloppy or incompetent.

This. Actually following up on the signature verification protocols on the mail in ballots would clear this all up. Count all legal ballots. I don't. Trump is that polarizing.
Is it too late to follow up on the signature verification protocols? Haven't the envelopes been separated from ballots and the ballots mixed together? Do you want another election in some states? If you do that Trump will cry every time he loses and ask for election after election.

I don't think you can as I would think the verification would have to happen before even opening the envelope. I'm assuming once they are all mixed together that there is no undoing that, unless the mail in ballots were kept in a "separate" pile but even that doesn't mean you can sort it out.UNI88 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 2:22 pmI don't.
