She lied. Look bro, you're flailing around just like BDK did when he was defending one of Trump's stupid ass tweets and acting no different that one of the "MAGAts" you railed on for the past 4 years. AOChe lied, her bullshit tweet got ratio'd which gives here the "L" this go around. There is no mental gymnastics you can do that will change the lie into fact. Have some integrity about this and stop simping for her.

I know it's hard, but put yourself in her position: someone who's experienced prior sexual trauma, riot happening at the Capitol complex, knowing you're one of the right's biggest targets, valid rape/murder scenario, hiding in a bathroom, banging at the door by someone.

People with traumatic experiences behind them see the world differently. Women in general see the world differently.

Y'all are doing her a lot of political favors attacking like this. I've got nothing more to say on the matter.

No mention of prior trauma. Go figure.
She explained “because there were QAnon and white-supremacist sympathizers and, frankly, white-supremacist members of Congress in that extraction point who I know and who I have felt would disclose my location and would create opportunities to allow me to be hurt, kidnapped, et cetera.”

“So I didn’t even feel safe around other members of Congress,” she added.

“It is not an exaggeration to say that many, many members of the House were nearly assassinated,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“It’s just not an exaggeration to say that at all. We were very lucky that things happened within certain minutes. That allowed members to escape the gap, the House floor unharmed.”

A few important facts were left out of her story.

According to Ocasio-Cortez’s website, her office is located in the Cannon Building, not the U.S. Capitol Building. The Cannon Building is .3 miles away from the U.S. Capitol, a six-minute walk.

∞∞∞ wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 7:06 pm Nothing like the right making fun of the trauma a sexual-abuse victim was experiencing to make people think their position is correct.

This is why the right is losing the generational war. Hell I might die on the most progressive nation on Earth at this rate.

I can only hope.
I'm not going to mock her as a past victim. It might not have been life or death but a situation like that could be stressful for a past victim even if she wasn't in any real danger. Is it possible she exaggerated in order to get attention? Yes, but I haven't lived in her shoes and I'm not going to judge her. Or course, plenty of progressives who haven't lived in my shoes have and continue to judge me - calling me privileged, entitled, etc. Oops, sorry for mansplaining.

If we become the most progressive nation on earth, be sure to think of me when you're waiting in lines for bread and vodka.

What you say about AOChe in other posts on this thread is true but right now her job (being a Representative and spokesperson for the progressive movement) is easy. Before we appoint her POTUS can we at least see how she does in a role that requires real leadership and some administrative ability. Maybe Speaker of the House or Senate Majority Leader. Governor of NY would be even better but the spotlight is brighter and the risks of career-hampering mistake are lower in DC so I don't see that in her future.

I think we'll see her in the Senate, probably taking Schumer's spot. I don't think she'll ever end up as Senate majority or minority leader though. Congressional leadership is political suicide if you want to seek the Presidency (people around her say she does, even though she denies it).

I don't think she'll be the first female President or anything though (think that will be Harris), but I see AOC running in the 2030s or 2040s. The administrative stuff isn't too important; people don't care about that stuff in a President. They want a voice who speaks for them. She's already proven a strong voice who has an uncanny ability to engage people and has a huge cult following. She's the most popular politician among Millennials and Zoomers and both will hold most political power in a decade. That's basically all you need.

Of course she's hinted at ending her career as a politician as well, so who knows.

ps. she also has the rare teflon factor, which is doubly-rare for a Democrat considering how diverse and divided the left is.

Didn't realize Hunter Biden, Donald Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner were politicians. Don't ever remember people voting for them.

The latter two had powerful administrative positions, given through nepotism, which affected everyday Americans. Trump Jr. and Kushner absolutely warranted more scrutiny and criticism. They were paid by taxpayers while having no qualifications for the positions.

Her comments prove she is just as big a loon than MTG is. And we've learned over the last 2 years she's as dumb as a box of rocks. The chances of her, or any other members of the Squat, becoming POTUS, are well, squat.

You're picking the wrong fight with me; I don't like the mainstream media either. They ultimately serve the powerful no matter the side.

I'm pretty sure I'm on record that Biden's accuser should have been given a larger voice than she was.

Still doesn't mean Kushner and Trump Jr. didn't deserve all the criticism they got.

Limiting the comparison to Jared and Don Jr's administrative positions deflects from the reality that Hunter is just as much of a scumbag as the other two if not more so. Joe raised a scumbag and enabled him to profit off his name and influence and that reflects poorly on Joe.

I’m not “picking a fight” with you. I’m pointing out the fallacy of your logic that somehow AOC is special because she’s “teflon”, when in reality ALL donks have the same quality because they are in league with the MSM.

∞∞∞ wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 12:11 pm Biden hasn't banned fracking.

He should though.
He can’t. Most takes place on private land. Only Congress could, and there’s zero chance of that happening due to not only the fillibuster, but multiple donk senators where fracking is yuge (Manchin and Tester).

Outside of Keystone, the other Biden exec orders in regards to energy production, the right has overracted to the effect of, myself included, as all they are is more red meat headlines for the left.
....if an operator has an existing lease and permit but hasn’t drilled yet, they can still drill the well and frack it....

But what Biden can’t do by executive order is an overall ban on fracking, because most fracking takes place on private land. A complete ban would have to be passed by Congress, and that looks like a longshot.

For a more in-depth interpretation of Biden’s recent executive orders, I spoke with Stacey Morris, who is Director of Research for midstream index and data provider Alerian. She explained that the orders were certainly not as bad as they seemed:

“These executive orders were pretty well-telegraphed. They were even a little bit softened from what was said during the campaign. The language on the Biden website discussed banning permitting on federal land. The executive order is a pause on new leases. They aren’t looking at a full out fracking ban.”

When I asked how companies might be affected, she explained “Companies have been stockpiling permits in anticipation of a move like this. Right now there are 7,700 unused permits. Devon Energy, for example, has over four years of permit backlog and drilling inventory. They expect to be able to execute on their federal lands program based on comments made in November.”

She added that some states that could be most impacted longer-term are New Mexico, Wyoming, North Dakota, and Colorado. In the long run, she said that a ban on drilling on federal land could lead to more imports. In that case, we could end up using oil that is produced with more associated carbon emissions than if it had been produced in the U.S.

I remarked that President Biden seemed to be going further left than President Obama on these issues, and she said that is probably because climate change is widely viewed as a more pressing problem now. Hence, Biden feels compelled to pursue more aggressive actions.

She said that the bottom line is the bark was worse than the bite: “The headline looks scary, but we don’t see any immediate impact from these executive orders.”

For those who are worried about your gasoline prices going up, this is definitely not the reason.

@ SD. That looks helluva photoshopped. It's not the logo she uses on her emails and I'm on her mailing list and didn't get it.

I also did a reverse image search and it's only circulating among the right's Twittersphere. Look at the text that's circled in red...seems manipulated. Also like any good politician, she usually asks for money somewhere (although not always).

Don't use social media as a source; the irony in the pic is that it's probably disinformation. Find a primary source and I'll admit she's wrong.

I know disinformation is a plague on social media, but I haven't had any accounts in years so I don't think I fully realize the scope, even though I read about it all the time. But if it creeps into this tiny website, I can't imagine how bad it's become on the big sites.

I often find the same people growing up who told me not to believe everything I see on the internet believing everything they see on the internet. Luckily my relatives aren't really into politics, but they'll throw out some random, false sh*t when we talk and I'm like, "where the hell did you get that?" And it's always Facebook or Twitter. Or I'll get forwarded some stupid link. :ohno:

And I don't mean to say I don't get caught up occasionally too; the internet is a big place and everyone is bound to believe something that ends up being wrong or false. But it happens more when you seek out to confirm beliefs, the "feedback loop" as they say.

The funny thing is that I somewhat agree with the (probably fake) photo about stopping the spread of disinformation on big tech sites. Wouldn't do it that way, and I have no idea how it'd be done, but there need to be some controls in place. Otherwise we get things like QAnon, Capitol Riots, Rocket Pizza, the Rohingya Genocide, and other terrible examples fueled by disinformation.

Jack Posobiec told me you would use that kind of excuse. I’m on to you!

Or I'll get forwarded some stupid link to something. :ohno:

The social media phenomena is so bad I’ve found myself wandering back to the msm after a long hiatus. There’s still some terrific journalism out there and something to be said for the resources (reporter boots on the ground) and liability (worthy lawsuit targets) issues that assist with the accuracy of large media orgs. (I think either you or Skelly made that point during the Ferguson thing).

Beyond all of that is an apparent lapse in critical thinking. That’s one thing I’ll say for this place...you better be able to have a healthy degree of skepticism, back up your shit, and prepare for your sources to be put on the rack.

The reliance on confirmation bias elsewhere is truly astonishing.

Now try it without Chicago skewing things. I think <$2300 is pretty good for a house, barn, pool, and 25 acres. What would youns be paying for a set up like that where you're located? Granted 25 acres in AZ is maybe enough to graze one burro...
What is the property valued at? <$2,300 sounds pretty good but comparing tax rates is dependent on the value of the property.

Since we're discussing high tax rates in Donk paradises, Chicago absolutely belongs in the discussion. I would guess that 75-80% of the people in Illinois live in and around Chicago. Chicago and Madiganistan are swimming in debt and unfunded pension liability due to mismanagement and giving away pension benefits that they can't afford. If the state of Illinois was a private enterprise they would have to declare bankruptcy. The state is worse run than the Trump Organization and what and how much they tax is going to continue to increase.
That their problem. I could drive roundtrip to either Memphis or Nashville in the time it takes to drive to Chicago.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.
