School sounds over the top with mask rules.

Kid sounds like a whiner too.
Whiner? I thought it was impressive for a 9 year old kid to make that presentation to the school board. He did a heckuva job regardless of whether you agree with him or not.

I didn't say I disagreed with him. There are a lot of 10 year old kids that could do this. He could have been more positive in his delivery. Instead of saying we can't, he could be saying we would like to.

I can totally see teachers yelling at kids about the BS mask rules, standing in line separation, not facing or looking at each other, ect. It's also a perfect comparison to how those in power talk down and order around grown adults as if they were children. THAT is what pisses me off the most and makes me want to do the opposite of what is being said at me.

In my experience (as someone who spent 5 years as a substitute teacher), there are a whole lot more 9 year olds that would stumble through it, be too terrified or refuse to stand up than there are 9 year olds that could do a better job than that young man. Critiquing the positivity of his delivery is BDK level nitpicking.

BDK is never positive. I'm sure he practiced with his parents or someone else that was coaching him. Whoever that was, should have helped with that. You see kids younger than him, sing the national anthem at sports events, with a few more people.

So rather than discussing the veracity of the young man's arguments, let's focus on whether his presentation was a positive as it could have been? That's BDK level nitpicking & deflection.

I already said the school sounds like it's over the top with their covid rules. Yes, he sounds like he's whining, which made the presentation less affective, IMO.

Should adults lie to kids and tell them what a wonderful speech that was, and let him go thru life whining, or give him advice on how he can improve his speech.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signs executive order banning state entities, including schools, from requiring face masks

So how is a Governor/state government dictating to municipalities and other local government entities any different from the President/federal government dictating to states?

Mast told Fox News that a Democratic lawmaker came up to him and a group of maskless GOP members and told them they should be ashamed of themselves.

"I can't give you her name because she had a mask on," he said. "I didn't know exactly who she was, she was saying we should all be ashamed of ourselves and started yelling at us, and then told us all to get out of her face even though we weren't really talking to her," he said.

"Speaker Pelosi, in my opinion only wants it done where people can see you on TV," Mast said of the mask rule, noting that face coverings are not required in the House gym or in private meetings, or anywhere else in Congress.

After House votes tonight where some GOP members refused to wear masks, a number of them went outside to take a photo, none wearing masks. "Best $500 I ever spent," Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., said, seemingly referring to the $500 fine a House member can face for breaking the mask protocol.

When asked by a reporter last week if she would update the House rules given the new CDC guidance, Pelosi gave a resounding "no" and questioned whether every member had been vaccinated.

The US Constitution prevents the President from just dictating to the sovereign states...

Under the Texas Constitution, the Governor can issue edicts like this...

Re-education...Covid style.
Getting everyone vaccinated in the United States has become much harder now that demand for the Covid-19 vaccine is flagging. America’s vaccination strategy needs to change to address this, and it starts with understanding the specific reasons people have not been vaccinated yet.

The conventional approach to understanding whether someone will get vaccinated is asking people how likely they are to get the vaccine and then building a demographic profile based on their answers: Black, white, Latinx, Republican, Democrat. But this process isn’t enough: Just knowing that Republicans are less likely to get vaccinated doesn’t tell us how to get them vaccinated. It’s more important to understand why people are still holding out, where those people live and how to reach them.

Nancy needs to remove the mask mandate in the House and wait for MTG, Boebert, etc. to get sick. Once some of the anti-vaxxers start getting sick, others might start rethinking their position.
