Yes, but rarely is Facebook still pulling down content they disagree with after consensus has shifted

FB is even behind the NYT on this. Even WaPo, the most strident dismisser of the lab leak theory as a “conspiracy theory” is backpedaling

So FB is not only a censor, it is also way behind

I told Mrs89 a LONG time ago that we really don't know if Fauci is a fraud and people shouldn't put so much weight into what he says. It could be like taking global advice from a 16 year old Swede.

Fauci was just really the closest person with a heartbeat close to Trump so people naturally gravitated to him in their reflexive habit to believe anyone but Trump. That blind allegiance to anyone who could be considered anti-Trump was Fauci's biggest strength. Hillary had the same phenomenon in 2016 (for evidence, just look at JSO's completely 180 of beliefs in becoming ardently pro-Hillary and not even just anti-Trump - scary stuff). The fact that we're still listening to Fauci is scary as well - it's going to take quite a while for that glow of being anti-Trump to fade away and be able to judge people on their merits other than being someone who wasn't Trump.

Indeed. Were we praising people for being skeptical when they refused to wear masks despite listening to experts? Are we praising people to not get vaccinated because they're skeptical of experts? Are we praising the folks who are still wearing masks despite being vaccinated and despite experts saying masks are no longer needed because they're skeptical of experts? We have enough people on either side of pretty much every issue that if we championed skepticism of experts we wouldn't get anything done.

Maybe that would be a good thing.

If you don't toe the FB line, you get censured at best, blocked/disappeared at worst. There is a very main stream conservative author (NY best seller list multiple times) that has spoken out against FB policies in the past and definitely has not followed their unofficial guidebook on what is correct and wholesome, and has documented that you get throttled, posts disappear, and they generally do what they can to make your influence non-existent. And we are not talking any crazy conspiracy theory's either, just the mere mention that things might not be what they appear (with hard data to back it) gets one put in the dunce corner.

Which is why its baffling why anyone who refers to themself as conservative uses Facebook.

There are on average 1.88 billion daily users of the platform. It all comes down to reach and FB is the biggest (and still marginally) the best way to reach your audience.

I belong to a friend’s private left leaning politics group and he is being treated the same for completely innocuous posts with msm links and bland comments. It ain’t just conservatives being em warned and censored.

My manager, who had a bad case of Covid last year, went to a wedding in Mexico.

He didn't get vaccinated because he's already had Covid and he didn't trust the vaccine.

Well he has Covid again. His wife and daughter also have it.

His wife is asymptomatic, he is exhibiting mild symptoms (so far), but his daughter is feeling pretty shitty.

And I quote: "It's making me rethink this whole vaccination thing."

About 10,000 out of 100 million vaccinated Americans got COVID-19 after their shots, the CDC found. Expectations were as high as 10%

Mortality rate for those getting it after getting vaccinated? 16%.

That number should even out some as more young people get the vaccine. Commorbidities are still a thing but death rates overall are going down.

You’re welcome,
