Agree 100%. However, you know there are large swaths of people that take those opinions to heart and believe their spin on the news as the gospel truth.

Then they complain about OTHERS not having any critical thinking skills.

Relax, there skippy. Not all of us have the time to watch Lawrence Welk reruns over a glass of Oban. I was busy tending to the garden and practicing Arlo Guthrie on the guitar. ;)

Honestly, I struggle to come up with counterparts on the left. Liberal voices (both classical and progressive) seem to be shouted down by corporate media. I’m more interested in reading who you listed or listening to comedy (perhaps the one true remaining bastion of truth telling in our culture) than anything else.

The only names I can come up with at the moment are Nathan Robinson of Current Affairs and Brian Grimm of the Intercept.
I thought you were going to give us Taibbi and Greenwald.

You keep mentioning "corporate": corporate media, corporate Dems (as in "put the insurrectionists genie back in the bottle like the corporate Dems are doing with the progressives"), etc. Do you think that Turner lost in the Ohio primary because of corporate interests/media? Maybe she lost because people aren't as progressive as you think.
She lost due to a late and massive influx of money from corporatists including the Hillaristas.

Good lord, no shit. The squad runs that fucking shitshow. Pelosi is clinging to what little power she has left….
Yeah...that’s why the Fight for 15 and Medicare for All are now a reality.
According to Jimmy Dore, the squad folded when it came time to actually take action on those items. So much for that. :coffee:

Whether it’s the reason she lost is debatable. The money coming in is not. Money determining political outcomes ain’t exactly a mystery.

Money can impact political outcomes, it doesn't determine them. There are other variables at play.

Winning percentage based on fundraising disagrees. In this case, Turner had a massive lead a month out or so right up until it started flowing.

If money determined outcomes then the candidate with the largest war chest would win 100% of the time.

Other possible factors:
- Boots on the ground. Did the "establishment" mobilize volunteers to get the word out? If yes, what do you have against grassroots efforts?
- Clyburn's endorsement.
- and so on.

The pseudo-progressive blather isn't as popular with the downtrodden as they want you to believe. People living below the poverty line will be most negatively impacted by defunding the police. Open borders hurts low wage earners more than high wage earners.

If money determines elections then it's the only factor that matters and the candidate with the most money wins 100% of the time.

Billions are spent on campaigns to impact elections. Money does not guarantee victory no matter how much pseudo-progressives want to Karen about it.

Clyburn's endorsements are no more dirty than Bernie or AOChe's. He has a lot of influence in the African American community and he uses it strategically.

She lost because she is unlikable and she wants to defund police. Period.

*She out-fundraised her opponent and then fed you your talking point, which she called “evil money” (read: Jewish money)

* progressives are not liberals. They are assuredly some of the most illiberal people in this country

here you are again, rising to the defense of extreme leftists

Clyburn only issued his endorsement a day or two after she called him “stupid” (very Trumpy of her)

He said it himself - he was content to mind his own business until he got called stupid.... and stupid for what? For supporting Joe Biden - the moderate (and moderately senile) candidate.

Clyburn is a moderate himself and he commands a lot of respect in the Democratic Party and in SC - precisely because he is measured and even-keeled, and even a bit bipartisan at times. In other words, he’s the Dem Mitt Romney with more favorables in his own party than Mitt.

Your heroine should have lost on poor judgment alone, so Congress is better off. They have enough populist bomb throwers on both sides of the aisle as it is

I didn’t say it’s the only factor, but it’s a strong indicator especially in a race where a commanding lead is wiped out in a short period of time.
