I'm curious, how many Americans were in Kabul/Afghanistan in April compared to how many were there the day Kabul fell. Unscientific example of the percentage of Americans with hubris and/or a "puzzling, non-fact based faith in the USG."
People have been trickling out for the last few months but nothing like the exodus it should have been
I was watching this woman from CNN today... interviewing Taliban on the streets in Kabul
She actually started to argue with one of them about whether or not their vision was “actually Islam”
Aside from the stupidity of having her face on international TV so that the mujaheddin can ID her...
I hate to say this but I will have very little sympathy for her if she winds up in a burqua, stuck there... sort of the same sympathy I lack for the unvaccinated who die of COVID
BTW - she won’t be a hero. She just stupid. There’s a difference

When asked about why so many people are still in Afghanistan, Biden said something like "in part, they didn't want to leave".
At this point, every journalist should have been jumping at the chance to drill down on this.
What was the message the US gave them?
How was it delivered?
When was it delivered?
How do you know they declined to leave? Did the message say something like "by August XX" or "immediately"?
Etc., Etc., Etc.....

Every single person that voted for Biden has Afgan blood on their hands.
This includes me, I am embarrassed that I voted for this clown. I am now an accomplice to killing women , gays and fellow Americans. The extremely embarrassing part is I am in the same boat as John St Onge. That is unforgivable
Props for acknowledging this. Lots of Biden* voters I know in person (and some on here) just stick to the "but Trump" spin as a weak as way to deflect their responsibility from the bloodshed that is sure to happen over there.
The "blood on our hands" narrative is a tad dramatic. NOBODY who voted for Biden thought a colossal screw up like this was going to occur. Biden voters aren't complicit just because they voted in October. Biden is. His advisors and such that failed to either heed the warnings or act decisively have the blood on their hands. Do Clinton voters have blood on their hands b/c Bill failed to take out OBL when he had the chance prior to 9/11? Do Nixon voters have blood on their hands for his perpetuation of the Vietnam War while at the same time trying to end it? Or how about his crimes? Are Trump voters complicit in his Big Lie and attack on our Democracy? My point is - is we vote for people and just b/c they royally fuck up like Biden, it doesn't mean we're Lady MacBeth.
Personally - I'm not embarrassed I voted for Biden. The alternative was a man who has zero morale compass and isn't a Conservative or Republican and is just a hateful, petty, petulant man-child. I'm angry with Biden. I'm frustrated with Biden and he's lost my support. Once again...jilted by a politician and for that I am embarrassed.

Journalists really suck.
I agree. Now's the time to be a Journalist and hound them for the truth. We'll get a dog & pony investigation which will only smear mud on everyone so nobody comes out on top. Get the journalists to do their jobs and hold these people accountable.

Heck, the truth won't really be known for a while, if ever. But get them on record stating something. Jeesh.
Interesting read from the afghani central bank director. Sounds like the leadership wasn’t very helpful…
3/There were multiple rumors that directions to not fight were somehow coming from above.
This has been repeated by Atta Noor and Ismael Khan.
Seems difficult to believe, but there remains a suspicion as to why ANSF left posts so quickly. There is something left unexplained….
13/It did not have to end this way. I am disgusted by the lack of any planning by Afghan leadership. Saw at airport them leave without informing others.
I asked the palace if there was an evacuation plan/charter flights. After 7 years of service, I was met with silence

Lol. No. But EVERYBODY who DIDN’T vote for Biden knew it. He’s got a 50+ year track record, bro. It ain’t rocket science.

If by "knew it" meant you just assumed the worst b/c he's a Democrat then sure. Go with that.

Listen, Mark. There’s no “glee” over here. I’m not “happy” he fucked up. There’s about 35,000 people whose lives are on the line, and there are tens of thousands of wounded veterans who gave blood and body parts in an effort to keep THIS from happening. And true, with Trump, you never knew what you were going to get. But with Biden, you knew EXACTLY what you were going to get. And you got it. So to feign anger, or indignity, or surprise is comical. Like I said, he has a 50 YEAR track record of incompetence.
Christ, if you knew nothing more about the man than what he’s fucked up in his first 7 months as president you could have pretty accurately forecasted the events of the last week.

I agree with that statement. An 8th grader could have planned a better exit. From a sequential planning standpoint, it's one of the biggest failures in Presidential history, and it's one where the results were immediate. It's one thing for a mission to fail due to poor execution of a good plan, or unforeseen challenges that emerge, but the sequential planning for this should have been a no-brainer.
But the big reveal among Biden voters is with the ones that try to deflect the criticism towards him, make excuses for him, blame others, provide cover for him, etc.

MAGAs in Reality: Biden's surrenders to Islamofascists!

I agree. When we all vote we make the best judgement call with the information at hand and cast our ballot. Now we all have different criteria and weigh things differently so while one person says this is a negative, somebody else will say it is a positive.
I do not think Trump would of done better (I know he couldn't of done worse) but for 4 years it was beat into Trump voters that because one voted for him, you were a Nazi, redneck, bigot, racist, etc. because Trump was perceived to act that way. I see some of the response in this tread doing the same to Biden votes and while dishing up some schadenfreude is fun in the short term, it only hurts everybody long term.
The verbal escalation and usage of terms outside of their intended definition to give the user more perceived power or higher ground is the problem. Calling people names that are obviously false (Nazi for example) just because they voted for a person or agree partially with how somebody handled a situation or because they disagree with what the speaker believes in, just leads to the desensitization and loss of meaning for words that should be using sparingly and in the correct context. It also leads people to ignore their use and the speaker that is using them. Thereby invoking harsher language by the speaker to try and drum up more emotional support for their cause.

I voted for Biden expecting him to be………………………….Biden.
And I’d vote for him over Trump again.
Flaggy may not post often, but he posts quality.

I don't necessarily disagree (and don't think for a minute I think you're happy about the situation. Give me more credit than that. ).
Maybe, deep down, my Biden vote was a big F U to the GOP for giving no good alternative (and I begrudgingly voted in 2020. I should kept out like I did in 2016)
All politicians are and they are just better at covering it up than Trump.
