BDK is correct. The Space Force split off from the Air Force, and is still using the same uniforms and ranks.

I am aware of who it is under currently but Ibanez mentioned that he would move it back where it belongs.

Hence my question if he thought it should be the Navy.

Bingo. Return it to the USAF - making it like a USN/USMC relationship.

Furthermore - no more multiple variants of the same thing just because. Variants of a plane, for example, will exist because something is truly specialized. No really reason why EACH BRANCH needs its own special version.

That would mean placing the Space Force as a separate entity under SecAF, NOT actually returning the Space Force to the Air Force. And, yes, that was in my mind also. I'd also like to move the Coast Guard as a separate entity under SecNAV (keeping the current provision that during time of war, the Coast Guard becomes a temporary part of the Navy). There are a few other moves I'd make (Border Patrol under SecArmy) to disestablish DHS, too (some agencies moved, other agencies disestablished). Our government is too bloated, and the confusion over who has control when is stupid, IMO....

Unless you are meaning that Space Force would stay LEO (and short missions) it would make much more sense from a logistic and operational environment to place it under the Navy. Operation outside of a LEO environment is almost identical to operating a submarine.

The USAF has zero knowledge of extended human voyages in a hostile environment. Their experiments with the x-37 are all LEO and do not involve humans living long term in space. If we are sticking to robots and bumming around Earth's exosphere, I can see leaving it in the USAF hands.

Personally once we actually have a decent population in space the Navy should have everything above the atmosphere with the Army controlling from there to dirt-side. At that time the Air Force can just go away and be back to what it was pre-1947. :coffee:

I agreed with carving the Space Force out of the USAF and making it its own service, under the Dept of the Air Force

Obviously it'd never happen because nobody with integrity could get the Republican nomination, but I'd vote for Liz Cheney. I would not at all mind taking a shot on her as President.

They'll shut up and like it. 8-)
I don't know about that. Conservative Latinos, Conservative African-Americans, and Conservative women don't fit their narrative, so they try to silence them in order to leave the impression that they don't exist. They sure whined rather loudly when Marco Rubio and that one from TX ran for President. They were even louder while Mia Love was running for the Congress and Dr. Ben Carson was running for President. And I'm sure you heard the screams while Sarah Palin (who, though white, is also a woman) was running for Vice President....
They can be as conservative as they wannabe but other than showing up at the polls the Republican Party wants nothing to do with anybody who isn't white other than for a bit of window dressing. They would much prefer the inbred booger-eaters from Missouri and Oklahoma. Too many mud people in the Party spoils the message. :coffee:
