Is that because of the vaccines or other reasons? The report says it's:
It's ambiguous, I don't think there's enough data to blame the vaccines themselves for vaccinated people over 40 catching COVID at a higher rate.
I would venture the susceptible unvaccinated got cleaned out awhile ago and now we are seeing those whose vaccine is simply wearing off, but look at the 40-49. It's almost double.
Anyway, the point was never about hospitalizations and deaths, more about this not stopping the pandemic. I've been saying this from the start. You cannot vax your way out of a pandemic with leaky vaccines.
This shoots mandates in the ass. The vaccinated are spreading COVID just as much, if not more than the unvaxxed.

Does your question mean you don't understand that people who are vaxxed and over 30 in the UK are now catching COVID at greater rates than the unvaccinated...and spreading it?
Need more data to determine that. Too many moving parts to make your statement.
At my physical last week, my doctor said that I could take my annual flu shot and Pneumovax (pneumonia vaccine, part 2) at the same time, in separate arms. So I did that.
My damn arms were so sore after that experience that I felt like the Venus de Milo, but without tits. Pfizer was a breeze. Who knew?
For shame guys, getting a booster when Newsom's own daughter has not received even her first dose because of a backlog.
Only in California could a politician this incompetent and hypocritically elitist avoid getting tossed out of office. Ten days ago, Gavin Newsom imposed a vaccination mandate on all students above the age of 12, including both public- and private-school enrollees. As it turns out, the Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday in a buried lede that Newsom has made one exception — his own daughter.
To be fair, Newsom’s order allowed for personal-belief exemptions — but …
The governor has said the state’s process offers an “accommodating” personal belief exemption and will provide adequate time to hesitant parents to talk to their doctors and school nurses. He said his own daughter, who recently turned 12 years old and is eligible for the vaccine, has not yet received it because she has “a series of other shots” to get first.
This does have shades of French Laundry-esque double standards, even with the caveat of “personal belief” exemptions. In the first place, it’s clear that Newsom’s “personal belief” is that he can order everyone else to vaccinate their children, meaning he has no beef with the shot or any liberty issues. He’s not even relying on the exemption to excuse his daughter from the mandate, only claiming that they haven’t gotten around to it yet because of some weird backlog on other injections. If that’s good enough for Newsom, why wouldn’t that be good enough for other parents?

While I'm all for shaming Newsom where needed, isn't the vaccine mandate for kids in CA only to take effect once the FDA moves to regular approval (i.e. not emergency approval) of the vaccine? I thought the earliest estimate for the mandate to come into effect was July of 2022, so almost a year from now. I'm sure she'll be able to get through all of her other vaccines and get to this by then.
And no backlog for COVID vaccines here anyway, every CVS store in the area has walk up appointments available - pretty much walk in, say you want the vaccine, and in 15 minutes you're out of there. Wish it was that easy when I got the first shot of the vaccine back in April when there were lines.

Quite possible, I haven't read that much into California's mandate. My take away from the article is that as a Governor you are a figurehead and expected to lead by example. When your own family is shown to flout or pick and choose what rules to follow, it is a bit of bad optics. Plus one has to consider that he is on record stating that everybody needs to receive it.
Especially when the excuse that your own family member hasn't had it yet wouldn't hold up a wet paper bag. If he wanted to wait till it was fully approved I have no problem with that, but state that. Don't dodge the issue.

kalm konundrum...
Iceland on Friday suspended the Moderna anti-COVID vaccine, citing the slight increased risks of cardiac inflammation, going further than its Nordic neighbours which simply limited use of the jabs.

Spot on. The "we can get back to normal when everyone is vaxxed" narrative is now out the window.

In regards to vaccines, the only vaccine I have denied to my children was the Hep B vaccine they wanted to give my youngest when he was all of 4 hours old. He got it later from his Pediatrician. My family is 100% current on required vaccinations.

Just a note to let everyone know that over in the UK, the vaccine protection from catching COVID for those over 30 has now gone negative. That means that if you are vaxxed and over 30, you now have a greater chance of catching COVID than someone who is unvaccinated and over 30.
I think it's very unlikely that that's true. But give me the link to the specific report. I know last time we went through this the report said that making comparisons such as the one you referenced weren't valid. I suspect I'll find something like that this time.
BTW, I can do it again and at some point the correlations will go away as this wave continues (hopefully) to wane. But there are very significant correlations in the United States such that both state by state case and state by state hospitalization rates tend to go down as vaccination rates tend to go up. So, whatever is going on with age groups, there is very strong suggestion that in the United States higher vaccination rate means lower case rate and lower hospitalization rate.
There is no reason to think it's different in the UK. But I'll look at the document you link.

Bro. Knock yourself out. The data has shown the movement of COVID cases from the unvaccinated to the next in line vaccinated. It's not a big deal, but an expected progression.
The virus is working it's way through the low hanging fruit. Sorry to be crude, but true.

I have criticized the way anthropogenic global warming statements are made many times because of the lack of controlled experiments. If you stick to the rules cause and effect can never be inferred because there is no way to conduct the controlled experiments that would be required.
But I don't think the evidence for making reasonable people believe human activity is impacting the climate and that the climate is warmer than it would be without human activity is weak.

The vaccines that can legally be used in the United States work. To continue to argue otherwise is ridiculous.
