Agreed. And who wouldn’t want to be champion of the working class ie everyone who works. That’s the majority of the adults in this country.

Klam’s no moderate. He just plays one on CS.com.
But the Oscar for Best Actor on the CS Poli Board goes, once again, to JSO for his gritty performance as “conservative.”

It’s needed saving before in our history. These things tend to be cyclical. We’re flushing out the Boomers right now who gave us a good chunk of that debt. Btw, don’t know if you’ve looked lately but we ain’t alone when it comes to debt to GDP ratio and inflation.CID1990 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 7:40 amI was unaware that capitalism needed saving.kalm wrote:

And where were these concerns when we were bailing out corporations and the investor class?

Deflection/distraction duly noted—-
I have long been a proponent of letting poorly performing companies fail.
I am not a proponent of allowing strategic industries like steel to be undercut from abroad.
And if the grotesque social pork bill known as the BBB bill had anything at all to do with “saving capitalism” then maybe we could have a discussion about that.
But as it is, if it was something so vital and urgent, one would think you and the rest of the extreme transformational left would be able to put forth something better than deflections, platitudes about saving capitalism, and Maseratis.

BTW, I’m not saying it’s a silver bullet. But even tge joint committee on taxation recognizes the savings and revenue creation.

In other news, SeattleGriz just picked up 10 gallons of gas and 30 lbs of propane to run the generator if the power goes off.
We are in "that time of the year" when we get our measley 4-5 inches of snow, but it's enough to break branches and have them fall on power lines.
I'm ready.

Re: Miscellaneous news items that don't warrant their own thread
Ebenezer Scrooge…misunderstood wealth creator…
Who then benefited from the accumulated wealth of Scrooge and Marley? First Britain and then all mankind. Since Scrooge and Marley never consumed the wealth they created, its use was a gift to all. It funded the factories and railroads, the tools and jobs that fed and clothed millions of British subjects and then billions around the world. Their unspent wealth was of no use to them, but it was of sublime use to humanity.
Even as Dickens’s Ghost of Christmas Present pulled back his robe to reveal the children who embodied Ignorance and Want, the wealth accumulated by Scrooge was already beginning the long drive that would do more to end ignorance and want than all the governments and charities that ever existed. Scrooge’s wealth accumulation would have benefited far more people than anything he gave to charity after his reclamation, and many times more than government would have helped had they taken his wealth and spent it.
So on Christmas, as we celebrate the promise of human redemption and join in repeating Ebenezer Scrooge’s famous pledge, “I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year,” let us also remember the contributions that Scrooge and Marley and the wealth accumulators of our own age have made as “the founders of our feast.”
